I was really hoping when I launched the game is full screen it would look like it does in the editor. Giving you a larger view of the map, instead of just blowing up the tiny square you already see into an ugly mess.

I am trying to google this, but all I can find is people trying to actually change the resolution without thinking they need to re do all the art as well.

When I launch the game is it possible to keep the 1:1 aspect, and go into full screen. so I can have more of the map showing instead of a bigger picture?

please oh please tell me its possible... I would be so disappointed in myself for buying this if not

Changing it to keep the aspect is, by definition, changing the resolution. Look up the high resolution script, it makes it so that more of the map shows.

Placing your game in fullscreen only stretches the viewport to fit your monitor's screen.

The maximum resolution of the original rgss301.dll  is 640 x 480.

This is the link to the official high resolution .dll project by one of the RMW staff :

http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/31953-high-res-rpg-maker-project/?hl=%2Bhigh+%2Bresolution

Follow the instructions there to install the high resolution dll to your RM VX Ace.

You can use this script call in your script editor in lieu of the Yanfly Ace Core Engine script to adjust your resolution size :

Graphics.resize_screen(xxx, yyy)

Menus will be resized automatically, but you will have to provide your own battlebacks, battlers, etc to fit the new resolution size.

I don't understand why I can see really awesome graphics in the editor but I can't play with the same graphics unless I use a tiny window. I'm not making the game for a tablet, its supposed to be for TV's and monitors.

I just feel like the game is going to look extremely unprofessional if I need to apologize to the players and say I suck too much to afford a program that allows you to keep your graphics when going full screen.

thanks for the info though I will look into it.

ok so the viewpoint stretch is what I am disliking, so what im looking for is simply to expand the viewpoint. but im guessing that might not be so simple.

Check out the link I mentioned, Greeley.

You have to download the official high resolution dll and replace your old rgss301.dll in your RM VX Ace (after making a backup).

Then you have to change the viewport size.

For example, if your monitor screen is 1366 x 768, and you want your viewport to be of the same size, you can use the script call as follows :

Graphics.resize_screen(1366, 768)

Edited for typos.

The editor uses a different resolution than the game, as the editor can be resized to fit your screen. However, all tiles are set at 32x32, so it fills the screen accordingly when you are editing. Just resize the game with the high resolution mod and scripts they suggested and it will be fine.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
