I was wondering if anyone could change the show text function to display an image that I create instead of the windowskin.

    Any help is appreciated.

For Messages it's easy. Just choose transparent when creating a message and use a common event to show a picture of a custom message box instead. Simplicity at it's finest. If you need more visual help I might be able to aid you somewhat.

What about recreating the whole interface this way? I don't think that this is possible this way.

Which aspect of the interface? battle HUD, Menu scenes ? almost everything is possible with the right knowledge of ruby and RGSS.

If you're more specific I may be of some assistance.

Oh the dreaded custom menu scenes ae? Weeellllll the best way to do this is to commision a cms from someone such as TDS for a measly 10-25 dollars. And use your own images like I intend to. There are some custom menu's available. Most just allow you to chnge the background image really. There is this - http://atelier-rgss.com/RGSS/Menu/ACE_Menu12.html - which you can actually create some rather cool thing with. But nothing beats learning the know how of learning ruby yourself and learning how to create your own menus and what not.

I much prefer not to use Ace. I am considering just eventing all the menus. What are the pros and cons of this?

oh you use xp. There are alot of cms for xp out there man. Mog acttually has a cool one for xp aswell. And I would'nt reallly know with xp. I've only ever used ace. It is the best maker of them all. If you check out xp forums I'm sure you'll find something to your liking. - http://www.atelier-rgss.com/RGSS/Menu/XP_Menu01.html

Yea I didn't realize that with the original link that I posted, although the second link is RGSS1 so it's an XP menu. Thus the reason why I posted it. I just wasn't paying attention with my first post :o

There are three positions of the Show Text function in XP, also, you could change the windowskin only for that certain type of event. You can then make your image as the display for the message rather than the windowskin itself...the windowskin is there, although its just transparent.
