Whenever I playtest my game, it will give me loading errors for images as soon as it has started. I've looked in the location that it specifies and the file is there. I am not sure of the cause. I would be grateful for any help I can receive.

for an HTML5-based program to load its files, the entire filepath needs to conform to networking rules.
So most likely the cause of this problem is that you placed your project folder into a directory whose name does not conform.

Please give the full filepath from drive letter to index.html and we can check this for you
    Example: C:\folder1\folder2\project\index.html

    nope, that is OK.
play to the error again, then press F8 on the error message and give us a screenshot of the console output you get then.

Here. I rebooted the game and took a screenshot of the F8 error message.

@NiteWinger that screenshot is worthless - I asked for the console output, not the element list.

that is the page that should automatically come up on pressing F8 - but if your browser has been reconfigured, it's the tab next to the elements in the screenshot you gave.

    please test locally.
According to the error messages you try to playtest it after uploading it to gamejolt, and that will not work if it is not completely uploaded.

If you tried to playtest locally, then this means that something changed the packages.json inside the project directory - perhaps you tried to deploy and selected the project directory as the deployment directory? never do that, it only damages the project itself and we need to repair the folder if you made that mistake.

The Gamejolt thing is a plugin allowing for the use of Gamejolt API.

I have tried disabling all plugins but it does not fix the problem.

those are picture files that should end on PNG, not on RPGMVP
Please open the project folder. Does it contain a folder named WWW?

If not, please tell us the exact steps you've done to start the playtest.

Nope it doesn't include a www folder.

To start the playtest, I've clicked the white button with a green arrow while having the project open in RPG Maker MV.

It is good that you don't have a www folder - that would have been the result of a specific mistake I wanted to check for.

two more tests, please give the results to both
    1) Make a new project in a different folder and check if you can playtest that in the same way.
    2) close the editor, go to the project directory (of this problematic project) and doubleclick on the index.html file - does this start the game in a browser

    Two more questions:
    1) which version is your editor? Check that in the editor under help-about
    2) which version is your projects rpg_core.js file? Go to the js folder of your project and open that file with a text editor, then read the number in the title line (do not doubleclick that file)

    1) I have done that a few times and it still does the same. Even if I replace the .rpgproject file and index.html
    2) It starts the same way as playtesting it, IconSet.png still cannot be found.

    1) Version 1.6.1
    2) Version 1.6.1

Go to data folder > find system.json > open it in any text editor > use search and find there "hasEncryptedImages" > Change value to false
    like that

I don't know what you do with your project but it was encrypted before

The only way the project can be encrypted is if its files have been deployed - and that deployment creates the www folder I wrote about before.
If you had your files set for encryption but not the www folder, then something must have manipulated those files.
I strongly suggest you take care with your plugins and make sure that you configure them correctly - most probably it was caused by a wrong configuration for the gamejolt deployment that tried to load your files from the internet.

NEVER use a plugin without configuring it correctly - that has caused more problems than any other mistake in the past.

I'm still not sure of the cause. I've deployed the game before with the plugin and that hasn't happened.
