Released Second Edition Beta Version D0.30 Update 3. This update makes some additions and tweaks in preparation for the upcoming guild missions, alongside bringing in the .NET Core 3 version of Northbridge.

Changelog:
  • The weaknesses can now be seen during battles.
  • Hunter License can now grant discounts on shops.
  • Balancing changes:
    • Gus can now learn Elemental Shields by stealing the skills from enemies.
    • Elemental shields remove the previous one.
    • Balanced some of the enemies.
  • Added a new dungeon: Tomb of <redacted> (It will be accessible in a later update).
  • Sena’s Adnverturer’s Guild is now available.
  • Performance improvements and visual tweaks.
  • Bug fixes.
  • Vastly improved Northbridge:
    • Moved Northbridge to .NET Core 3:
      • Performance and startup improvements.
      • A copy of .NET Core 3 ships with the game. The game is completely separate from .NET Framework.
    • Improved error handling.
    • Technical improvements.
  • Re-wrote the installer to Advanced Installer.
    • Improved installer size.
  • Added a migration assistant for the Microsoft Store version.

Released Second Edition Build 20191227 today. This update adds two new guild missions (technically three since it should provide enough hunter coins in order to exchange for the Advanced Hunter License, thus allowing you to access the Tomb of Kings). This will also be the last update for 2019. Unless there’s a critical bug to fix.

Changelog:
  • Added 2 new guild missions: 1 Hunter Mission in Mendor and 1 Bounty Mission in Celtia.
  • Added the Adventurer’s Guild in Mendor.
  • Re-worked the logic that is used for the license upgrades.
  • Integrated automatic crash reports.
  • Fixes some graphical errors.
  • Fixed a bug where enemies in some dungeons show a weird behavior in some cases.
  • Fixed a bug where the player would spawn out of the drinking bar (in Celtia’s Pub) when returning to get the boat.
  • Fixed a bug where the placeholder boss would spawn in the Rogue Lair at the wrong time.
  • Fixed a bug where the slimes wouldn’t count when the player took on the “Slime Hunt” guild mission.

After a few years of tuning and getting the placeholder assets replaced (for the most part), I’m happy to announce that Immortal Sins Second Edition has reached stable. Although the changes between D0.31 and the last build are minor, this reaches an important milestone: The game has fully transitioned to RPG Maker MV and it has reached feature complete status. This means that I have reached the Beta milestone. All that’s left is to finish the story. You’ll be pretty much seeing balancing changes and bug fixes for the most part.

Now, if you are on the D0.20 builds, you will see a lot of improvements and changes, including an overhauled engine and gameplay, extra scenes and guild missions, etc. Sadly, compatibility with the old saves is broken, but I believe it’s a small price to pay for a vastly improved game.

Game:

  • Overhauled parts of the prologue.
  • Edited part of the dialogue.
  • Adjusted the message boxes so they are comfortable for players with big screens.
  • Changed some of the sounds.
  • Implemented a fade-in for the music for some scenes.

  • Maria and Elena should now have full health after the prologue.

Heyo! Here's a small collection of updates that were released:

Version D0.31 Update 2
Game
-Added hint for the elemental affinity.
-Added a save patching system.
-Slight edits to some maps.
-Strike replaces Attack.
-Re-balanced the enemies in the Crystal Cave.
-Visual fixes.
-Fixed some bugs with some cutscenes.
-Fixed a bug where the rewards wouldn’t be marked on the Journal.
-Fixed a bug where the game would register the “Slime Hunt” mission as complete in the Journal.

Northbridge:
-UI adjustments.

Version D0.31 Update 3
Game:
-Overhauled memory management and pre-caching.
-May fix a bug where the game would (in rare cases) remove some important images for the game too early.
-Updated some of the game’s libraries.
-Overhauled the resource checks for the battle options.
-Added a feedback window. This will appear if the game crashes and the user opted-in for error reports.
-Changed the E. Skill to Enemy Skills (Enemy S. in the actor commands).
-Swapped the enemies in the Rogue Lair with Rookies.
-Bug fixes.

Northbridge:
-Improvements to the error reporting system.

Version D0.31 Update 4
(Important note for the users of the Windows Standalone package: It's recommended to uninstall the old version before installing the new one. This is to ensure a clean installation.)

Game:
-Encounter immunity was added.
-Tweaked some of the text in the prologue.
-Fixed a bug that would cause an icon to be shown above the location that they were.

Northbridge:
-Included new icons to the buttons.
-Integrated Halva packages (Windows only).
-Improves download size.
-Reduces launch times.
-Bug fixes and improvements.

Known Issue:
-[Windows users] The game may crash when Northbridge updates the packages. This is due to Windows locking the write permissions so only the user that first ran the game and clicked Play. As a temporary fix, run the launcher as an admin. (This only applies when updating from this build).

Heyo! Released a new bug fix update today. This is mainly for fixing some game-breaking bugs. Changelog:


- Fixed a bug where some areas would attempt to load the wrong layer.
- Fixed a bug that would cause the save system to be locked if the player interacted with the fireplaces in the Crystal Cave (after the prologue).
- Fixed a game-breaking bug where the player would fight the first boss (in the Crystal Caves) and get stuck in Aigina.
- Fixed a bug where a chest in the Tomb of Kings would attempt to play a non-existent sound effect.
- Fixed a bug where the Rogue Hunt wouldn't register the completion of the first objective.
- Minor graphical changes.

Another day, another update.

Game:
  • Compressed the images to AV1 Image Format. Reduces the game’s size.
  • Used a new window skin.
  • Reduced the damage dealt by the enemies in the Crystal Cave.
Northbridge:

  • New UI theme.

Release build 20201119. This is a small (but substantial) update to both Northbridge and game’s internals to improve my workload. Since these focus on some future proofing, you won’t see a lot (aside from the game being a lot bigger).

Game:
  • Re-structured parts of the game’s engine.
  • Improved visibility in the dungeons.
  • Updated the renderer to 0.50.0.
Northbridge:

  • Moved to .NET 5.
  • Switched to the Chromium-based MS Edge for viewing pages.
    • A copy of Microsoft Edge WebView2 is included in this release.

Released build 20201222. This is mainly a bug fix build (with a few quality of life improvements).
Game

  • Linked the shops together.
  • Fixed some graphical errors.
  • Fixed errors in the text for some items.
Northbridge

  • Implemented tweaks to improve performance.
  • Implemented the following improvements to the package manager:
    • Improved error handling in the first startup.
    • Tweaked the update check to improve error handling.
    • Added a message to inform the player that some of the space will be reserved.

After a few months of work, the first build of 2021 is available now. This brings a lot of bug fixes and quality of life improvements. It’s also the first build that includes a few major changes, as part of a massive overhaul (coming into new builds in the future).

Changelog:

Game​

  • Re-wrote part of the prologue.
  • Added name tags to NPCs.
  • Adjusted some of the text.
  • Tidied up the Options menu.
  • Added a scroll bar to improve the visibility of the options.
  • More details are now shown in the pause menu.
  • Changed the icon of the inventory option in the Actor Command.
  • When an enemy guards and an attack with an element that he’s weak to hits, it will show Guarded instead of Resisted.
  • Removed Row Formation.
  • Moved the option to show hints from the start of a new game to the Options menu.
  • Improved some of the maps.
  • Balancing changes.
  • Tweaked the Automatic Crash Report mechanism to improve the context of a crash (see the included Readme or the eManual for more information).
  • Adjustments to the cache for the game.
  • Fixed a crash when the migration tool ran in certain cases.
  • Fixed an issue where some shops didn’t use the linked shops.
  • Various bug fixes.

Northbridge​

  • Changed the theme from Office 2019 Black to Fluent Dark.
  • Removed code that is no longer necessary.

Installer/Microsoft Store​

  • You now have the option to remove the included copy of WebView2, if you have it installed.
  • You now have the option to remove the Standalone version from the computer, if you install the Microsoft Store version.

Released Version D0.32 Update 1 today. This update (codenamed "New Translation") is quite substantial. This brings a substantial amount of re-writes to the story, flashing out a lot of details in the process. There may be a few areas to improve, but this should improve the story. Why am I calling this update "New Translation"? Well... It's like me, a metaphorical archeologist, going back and translating the scripts. In addition, I have implemented some code so when the game updates, it will only extract new data. This is done to speed up the time it takes to update the cache.

  • Re-wrote more scenes.
  • Implemented a system where new data is extracted.
  • Fixed some bugs and graphical errors.

Released Version D0.32 Update 2 today. This update is more of a technical rework rather than a more substantial update. Notable improvements are the improved performance and splitting the audio files into their own pack (which should reduce the size of updates in some cases).
  • Performance improvements.
  • Implemented a tweak as to how the engine will handle the memory. Hopefully, this will fix the issue where the game would discard any necessary images too early.
  • Split the audio into its own package.
  • Tweaked how stealable skills are shown.
  • Fixed some bugs and graphical errors.
EDIT: Uploaded a new build to fix a crash introduced in this release and a few extra changes.
