Hey folks,

is there a way to do a similar system as telltale games or bioware games do, using the savegame of the older game for the new game

to keep some decisions etc. ?

It is possible.  I've played a number of XP games that have done this, and I'm fairly sure that it's possible in Ace.

But what those who have done it are unanimous about is that it has to be planned that way from before you start the first game.  It's not possible to introduce it later on.  You also have to be prepared for an enormous amount of extra work.

This^

The file documents are kept in the base folder for your game, transferring that file alone to another game folder is no problem. The save file keeps track of just about everything the player has done in the game so far (switches turned on/off, variables, items and equipment, etc.) However, you need to make sure all the items, weapons, armors, actors, and many other objects in the database are either left the same or completely untouched.

You can still edit the numbers, but don't switch around anything otherwise you'll have some major issues going on. Also No adding scripts after the first chapter. Your saves won't carry over well.

There's a script that I'm using that's similar to what you want:  http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/39058-10-script-to-load-variables-etc-from-save-file-of-a-different-game/

Instead of building your game to be 100% complete and "hiding" features, you can just import all the variables, switches, experience, and other values from your first game. This allows you to build a game with a set of scripts, save the user's stats and choices, then import them into an entirely new game. I had to use this because I wanted a very different system for my second game. The best part about this script is that your first game does not need this script; only the second game does - meaning you can start on that entirely new second project as a separate entity from your first game.

Just note this is a barebones method where users have to manually move their old save file to your second game. It's a lot more complicated to program the script to automatically locate a file in a different directory or previous installation folder.

Edit: You also have to edit the script a bit and know some calls. I had to add name and switch retrieval calls for example.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
