So I worked on 2 games in VX Ace Lite while I waited for my boxed copy to arrive, and now that it has, I am feeling ambitious enough to try and import these projects into VX Ace. Problem is, I don't know how. Does anyone have any ideas on how this can be done? Do I just copy the database files, and all is well? If so, I must be missing something, because that didn't work for me.

Just open Ace Full and open the game file from within there.

If Ace Lite allows it, you could also compress the game project (without encryption or RTP) to get it onto your desktop, open it from your desktop, then open the game file with Ace Full.

That was fast. But I get blanks when I do that... :( the it says to me "Unexpected File Format" and then leaves me with a blank space.

Hmm.

Find the folder where your data is loaded.

Copy over everything except the .exes into a new folder.

Do this again, with a BACKUP. (Just in case the following suggestion doesn't work)

Create a new project in Ace Full.

Save that project elsewhere.

Find that Ace Full project, and find the .exe with the dice (the one you click on to open the project) and copy that over into the Ace Lite project, where you copied the data onto - with the now-taken-out .exes. But only copy over the dice .exe - nothing else.

In theory, this should allow the data to be opened in Ace Full rather than Ace Lite (as Full may be reading Lite's thing and getting confused) - let me know if this works!

Compressing the game puts all of the .rvdata2 files into the rgssad, doesn't it? So you can't actually edit the compressed version. And the .exe with the dice has nothing to do with it. That only runs when you run the exe from Windows, and all it does is call up the rgssad.

I'd copy away your original version somewhere, just in case messing around with it breaks something. Then I would create a new project in Ace full. Then either copy all your Data files over from the original into the new project, or copy the Game.rvproj2 file and its associated ini file from the new project into the old.

If none of that works, then search through the forums, as many people have done what you're trying to do, and there are questions and answers when they had trouble doing it.

Really? I've had no issues editing compressed versions of games. The key thing is to make sure the version you compress for backups isn't actually encrypted.

Yeah, I have searched the forums, but most of the posts are just confirming that you can swap from lite to Full. The few posts I did find mentioning how to do it are not at all clear, and I have tried them to absolutely no positive effect. I would really just hate to lose these 2 games I was working on because I can't import them to full version.

I had no problems opening a lite project with the full version. How did you try to open that project?

First, I created a new project in Ace Full, then I copied *.rvproj2 file, and Game.ini files.

Then I tried again, making a new project with 15 maps as I had in my Lite project, and did the same process.

The first method came up with just a new template, like it was a new file, then with the maps added it keeps saying "unexpected file format".

you copy nothing, unless you want to make a backup.

You simply open the original Lite-Project in the Full version, nothing else.

Then you can copy parts around if you want to get the graphic files that didn't exist in the lite version accessable.

So I open the full version, and then go to the project folder and open the *.rvproj2 file? Going to try...

Edit: Results= "Unexpected File Format"

Holy gorgons, I've got it figured out! Thank you all for your help, and now I just need to find some Rogaine, having pulled out large patches of hair from my head...

False Alarm: When I try to open one of the projects, It says "Failed to Create Process." Any ideas?

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
