So I imported an .efkefc into my RMMZ project and updated texture links (I also copied texture images to the appropiate game folder), following Driftwood Gaming's YouTube tutorial however it still does not show up at all in the program. I don't know what else I can or should do.

I'd like to also note that the file was initially in .efkproj format but I converted it to .efkefc before putting it into the project.

This might help you

Oops I just saw that you referred to this, sorry reading a million messages rn :D

Make absolutely sure you've updated everything, missing just one will break them all.

The paths are relative. Basically, unless you create your effects inside your game's 'effects' folder from the get go, its best to keep all your images in folders where you save your projects and copy everything over.

For example this is my folder where I create my effects. Notice the three folders, none of my effects use any image or asset from outside those three folders.

This is my game's 'effects' folder, all I did was copy my effects and the three folders directly in with no name changes to the folders, and they worked with no problems.

Do note that if I decided to use the default RTP textures I would have to copy the 'Texture' folder into my effekseer project folder and import from there so as to keep the paths relative.

Also if you didn't save the effect when you first started working on it you my need to save, re-open and save again. This is because until it has been saved for the first time it has no 'origin' to create a path from, reloading fixes this.

I created a texture folder exclusively for textures from the animation pack I want the animation used from, updated the texture links to the appropiate game folder, and once again saved as .efkefc file. Still the same problem. Even reloading the texture and saving it again, closing MZ and opening it again did not work.

To be more specific I'd like to use "MagicWater.efkproj" file from this sample pack and I'm pretty sure it only have textures attached to it, but I can't seem to get it to work.

Ok, I've discovered what's going wrong. That particular animation is using sound effects which they haven't provided.

Basically for this particular animation delete the 2 nodes at the bottom written in Japanese. It just so happens they are the problematic nodes and serve no other purpose.

For future reference: click window form the top bar, then click sound. Click on each node one at a time, they should all say 'disabled', if a node instead says 'enabled' with more options then change the drop down to disable it.

Hopefully this should help, if not I'll give a step by step guide to fix and port this animation.

Hmm, so sounds added does break it, good to know. We turned them all off to be on the safe side, but I wasn't sure if it being on actually broke it.

Actually sound does work.

I just copied my StarBurst animation from the Effekseer Competition with all its sound effects into the 'effects' folder of my test game.

It worked no problem. And I haven't touched the file since the competition. I just copy and pasted all the files/folders from my zip and it worked. No edits required.

The animation OP is struggling with however doesn't even provide the required sound files so it won't work until you remove them entirely from all nodes involved. That or replace the sounds with your own.

Ahh, ok, that actually makes more sense to me. Thank you for clarifying.

So I kind of abandoned that animation and created a completely new one, but despite updating image links the file doesn't show up in RMMZ. They play perfectly in Effekseer but my copy of RMMZ just keeps ignoring animations made from complete scratch.

Maybe someone could take a look and tell me what's wrong.

You're making the same common mistake I keep seeing but struggle to explain in words.

Its actually so simple I don't have the words to explain what you're doing wrong without it sounding far more complex than it is. Sorry if this sounds condescending but I really can't figure out how to explain it simply.

Honestly if you don't get what's going on; just save your animations directly into you game's 'effects' folder. Work on them from there and always copy images into the 'Texture' folder first before using them in effekseer.
And if you ever need to move the animations into a new project just copy the whole 'effects' folder.

Anyway here is the fixed animation, just copy and paste it exactly as it is, 'Texture' folder included, overwrite if needed. No need to open it in Effekseer, no need to redirect the images paths, just copy and paste.

Thanks, it works now. I looked a bit into the corrected file but still can't exactly make out what was that you corrected except it appears to be (mainly) file paths.

Basically I opened your folder then immediately made a new folder right there called 'Texture' and dropped your images in. I then opened you animation and changed the file paths to those three images in that same folder.

The problem I keep seeing seams to be that people try to change the paths to point directly to the 'Texture' folder in their game files and not to one by the same name in the same folder as the animation itself.
