I am using XAMPP for a localhost and have been using it without trouble since the first day. But suddenly, today, when I accessed the localhost through Chrome, the game is as it was yesterday night.

None of my recent changes show up.

I've double checked XAMPP and its pointing to the right places. That hasn't changed.

When I use Firefox to access the localhost, I get the updated build just fine. (Though oddly the game lags, unlike in Chrome)

Whatever is happening seems Chrome specific. I've tried CTRL+F5. And deleting chrome saved data for localhost, in privacy settings. Nothing seems to matter.

I assume there must be something obvious I am just unaware of here. Can someone point me towards it please. ;)

Have you tried playing in anonymous mode?

The files are being cached by the browser. When I get home I'll explain how to fix this.

I had suspected that the browser was loading cached data, I just expected that a CTRL+F5 was supposed to totally reload a page. When that didn't work, I expected a manual expunging of the localhost related data in settings, to get rid of it.

It seems to have finely fixed itself since I originally asked. But I am still curious how I might outright prevent it, rather than being forced to use Incognito mode every time I want to test builds regularly.

Is the caching related to the improved performance the game has on Chrome?

It is possible. The only issue I've had here was that the json files were being cached, no .js file had that issue.

You can disable cache on chrome either with an extension or with the developer tools:

Press F12 to open the developer tools, then press F1 to open it's settings. The very first setting is: "Disable Cache".

It will only be effective while the developer tools are open, but you're probably going to use it all the time anyway.

I had this happen to me yesterday too - I was changing note tags in the map's properties, and playing in the browser, even after saving & doing a test play, and after hitting F5, it kept showing the OLD tags I was using.  So thanks for this - I'll have to change that setting myself.  It was a real headache!

This was the most recent thread about this that I found, so I'm posting here:

This snippet will make the browser always load the latest version of the json files, avoiding it's cached version.

Code:
var oldDataManager_loadDataFile = DataManager.loadDataFile;DataManager.loadDataFile = function(name, src) {  src += '?' + (new Date().getTime());  oldDataManager_loadDataFile.call(this, name, src);};

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
