Hello, so I'm totally new to rpg maker (i've know it for some time, but never focused on it).
And I'm thinking in giving a try (because my ideas are still too raw, so still deciding can and can't s ---- also, I have no programming knoledge at all), and would like your help to know if theres already something like this:

(Im thinking into a detective game)
So, is there any possibility to create, for example, a "hidden" glossary/database, and when the player access an in-game computer, appears an search bar where he can input whatever he wants. If that input is in the glossary, then the results are showed, if not then simply appear "nothing found".

I've searched but found nothing like that

Any help is appreciate
Thanks

'General Discussion' is for looking at broad themes as they relate to the making of games. "How do I...?" (implementation) questions belong in the Support forum for the engine you are using.

[mod]I am moving this to RPGMaker MV as I think this can be done with eventing. If, however, people say that it must have a plugin, please Report this post and ask for the thread to be moved to JS Plugin Requests.[/mod]

well it's MV, so basically anything is possible. but without programming knowledge your options will be limited at first. you could crudely event it using an input name event and then checking the actor name against the valid search terms.

you could functionally do something closer to what you want by using darkkitten's CmdInp plugin, with some relatively simple modification. but if you want it to look like an actual search bar, then that gets more complicated. you might have to commission a plugin.

what i'd recommend though is first trying to do it yourself. you'll learn a lot about the game engine as well as javascript. there will probably be a lot of frustration along the way, but the payoff will be awesome once you figure it out.

I'll be doing that, at first darkkitten's seems very good for this.
Thanks Starbird!!!

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
