Hello,

I'm pretty new to rpg maker, but I was wondering if it would be possible to make a menu that would allow you to customise a sprite whilst in the game.

For example:

Say the player character goes into a hair salon. A menu would open up that would have their sprite in the middle and the player would be able to select from a range of different hairstyles or colours or whatever.

Would this be possible?

What you're talking about is usually called "composite sprites", and there are several existing scripts that can handle that. Some of them are intended for clothing changes however, that might be the reason why you didn't find them on a search - but it doesn't matter to the script if the change is on the armor or on the hair.

That said, setting up for different faces and hairstyles and other options will be tedious (each sprite needs to be listed with its data) and you will need pre-existing pictures for every color of hair etc, because you can't change colors on an existing sprite without introducing a lot of lag.

That is why most people don't put in the efford to enable such a system, they only let the player choose between complete faces/sprites.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such?
