Hi,

there's a particular enemy I would like to make impossible to miss hitting.  How is this done? Thanks!

you can't do that directly, because the HIT is based on actor values only, the enemy has nothing to do with the ability to hit it.

you would need a plugin to change the entire skill/damage procedure for this.

Can I temporarily change the actor values?  And if so, which ones?

You could give all actors a state at the start of the battle that raises their to hit by 100%. Then, provided the enemy has 0% EVA, they would never miss (unless they have skills with < 100% chance of success, that is).

Though, giving all actors 100% to hit by default and that enemy 0% EVA would do this automatically too.

Awesome, thank you!

However, bgillisp's solution is something other than you described in the first post.

If you give 100% HIT to all actors, then they will always hit every enemy, not just always hit that specific enemy.

Wait, what about an enemy's evasion rate? Doesn't that affect it? If not, what's it for?

Right. That's why you have to add the state to make it temporary. But if you only want misses, then just give them 100% to hit, and those they can miss give them the 5% EVA.

Or, you can just rewrite the hit/miss mechanic totally so that it makes more sense (like I did), but that's getting advanced :)

You're right.  For this single battle it won't bother me though if the hero never misses anyone else.  I'm all ears if someone has a solution that totally answers my first question.  Thanks!

I'd make a joke about the post office, but I'm afraid you won't get it.
I've been on a really good streak lately of working on my game for at least a little bit each day. Even if I only complete one small task, it is still a much better pace than what I was maintaining previously!
I haven't worked on my game for a couple of weeks. Decided to get some things done this evening and found that my characters won't hop over to their targets to attack (Battlecore) but only when using a weapon that is a type with IDs 3 and anything above 6 in the database. Wasn't doing this before my break. Yeah, I'm done game devving. I won't allow another hobby to waste my precious time like this.
Always a good feeling when someone turns your design into an actual sprite and it looks like how it was intended :)
