Thanks guys. The release date is not certain yet, but I am planning for it to be sometime in March or April. You could try the demo in a meantime if you want to. It only has the first act of the game so far (first 2 hours). You can download it from here. Some of the stuff is still missing in it though, like the equipment descriptions.
Got more stuff for you all: First of all is another gameplay video sample (since it's been a while since the last one). This one is fairly short and it showcases the first of the two chase scenes in the game. Enjoy. Secondly, many thanks to The Stranger for doing this cool star map for the game. It shows relative positions in space of all the fictional planets where the story takes place (and the stars that they orbit).
More screenshots! Aerial military base 'Angelius' Another shot of 'Angelius' Town of Grohstd (pronounced 'grow-sted') a.k.a. 'The Sarodan Town' And next to that little town is this beast - Grohstd Factory
Nice mapping, as always I like the idea of using the shadow pen in the 3rd screenshot for the chimneys/blocks-of-something. One thing is bothering me though, on this 3rd screenshot as well: on the top&far right house, the stairs look like it has no depth, like a ladder on the wall. I can't quite say what is wrong, but my brain is struggling with this one.
I will never fully understand people, seriously...why the hell they ignore good games? This game deserves more attention, it's great. bah people...just bah! ...what a shame...
I took a break from working on my game to try out your demo. Data entry can be so mind numbing. I love what you have so far. In fact I was afraid to play too much because I would like to play the first game before I go further. Great mood music. Great mapping and easy to use mechanics make this game easy and fun to get into. A steady pace keeps the story moving forward as well. Everything I have tried so far is very well executed. There are a few particular things that you have in your game that I would like to learn how to do at some point to enhance my own game such as the user interface, title screen, etc. Do you have any tutorials or places that you know of that I might be able look at to pick up these skills?
Thank you guys very much for the support. I really appreciate it. Cabfe: I think I know what it is. I think it's because the stairs are exactly the same length as the wall, which is strange because the wall is vertical and the stairs are meant to be slanted. I'll just add an extra tile of the stairs at the top to give them more of a depth. Thanks for pointing that out. I should've noticed that actually. Nestalious: Glad you liked the demo. Thanks for checking it out. Which part of user interface do you mean? Is it the battle HUD? That one was done with the help of scripts. I used Yanfly's battle system in this game: http://yanflychannel.wordpress.com/rmvxa/battle-scripts/ace-battle-engine/ Though there are others too. In the first game I used Neon Black's battle system, which is really good as well: http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/4811-cps-battle-engine/ For the title screen I used Dekita's script: http://dekitarpg.wordpress.com/2013/04/02/d13x-title/ Though once again, there are plenty others to choose from as well that customize the title screen. It depends on what you're looking for mostly. Hope this helps.
Matseb, you can probably guess I'm gonna review/critique this series next ;D As soon as I've wrestled this deadline!
A couple more screenshots for everyone and also some questions in regard to the demo (scroll down past the screenies to see those). Wondering why Hesper is leading the party all of a sudden? Stay tuned and you shall find out. (Also check out those armoured military vans). And this is Cronos, a 3 in 1 type enemy. His arms can act on their own, so you've got to beat them too. Finally, I wanted to put a few questions here. If you've played through the demo, then your answers to these would be extremely helpful to me. 1. How long approximately did it take you to get through the demo? 2. Did the game crash for you at any point due to scripts? (I had one person mention that the game crashed for them due to the Khas' lighting script, but I am wondering how common this problem is) 3. Was it easy to find the sidequest givers and did you manage to complete the sidequests that are in the demo? (There are 3 sidequests in the demo, 2 of which can be completed within it) Many thanks to everyone who answers those.
I'm really looking forward to playing this! Probably under an hour. The demo was pretty straightforward, and I never found myself lost or wondering what to do next. No. The demo never crashed on me. Come to think of it, I don't think I managed to complete any side-quests. I couldn't find where either of the quest objectives were - probably just not looking hard enough, I guess.
i thought that van edited with tiles was cool so i tried something similar and figured i'd share it since i got the idea from you
The Stranger: Thanks man. I might have to give more clues to the players as to where the sidequests are, or maybe have some kind of guide for them to refer to. So you've managed to do the demo in under an hour? That's impressive. I was thinking it'd be more like 1.5-2 hours. It could be that you didn't get round to the sidequests, but they probably would only add an extra 10-15 min. Hmm. AtlasAtrium: Haha, that looks awesome! You've uncovered my secret. What sort of van is this? Is it an engineering van? Did you want me to add it to the game? I could certainly place a few of those in the cities.
I dunno :v You can put it in your game if you'd like, I just decided to put it up here for you to use since you gave me the idea when I noticed your van used tile edits
OK then. I guess that's not too bad. I'm just trying to figure out how long the full game will be. I don't want for it to end up being too short, and the part in the demo was meant to be roughly a quarter of the game (possibly a bit less). I'm curious though, would you rather the game was 6-7 hours long or should I try to make it up to 8-10 hours as initially intended? Also, thought I'd post another screenshot. This happens during the 2nd chase scene in the game.
Thought I'd post a few more screenshots. Since there are quite a few, I've decided to put them in the spoiler tags. Spoiler Adrial and Eryn sharing a romantic moment. And several screenshots of the new area - military base 'Abyssus': A puzzle with some switches and security beams that is found in this dungeon.
Apologies for another post, but check out this awesome game art of Adrial and Eryn, drawn by Ehcs. (Stay tuned for more characters)
