Main Story Line:
Not so long ago, Human and Cherubim kind lived in seperate worlds, ignorant of eachother's existence and finding their
own ways and cultures. The bird-like Cherubim, being flying creatures, built a great kingdom in the sky that rested on top of the
clouds. They worshiped a bird creator god who was gifted with the power of a great internal light, and the ability to bring
peace and prosperity to their land. However, they believed that their beloved god was opposed by an ancient, dark force
which sought to destroy existence as we know it. Some passed these stories off as supersition, the product of over-active
imaginations.
That was until the day that the storms came. The calm, fluffy clouds that had cradled the Cherubim civilization for so many
centuries suddenly turned dark and angry, the crack of thunder shaking the foundations of castle and cottage alike, turning
all into rubble. And then, before the eyes of the terrified Cherubim, two creatures appeared in the sky. One was the creator god,
shining with an all-consuming light. The other was his enemy, who took the form of a bird made from dark clouds. They fought
viciously, and as they did, the storms intensified, sending the kingdom into chaos. The two creatures tore at eachother's essence until
nothing remained but shreds of themselves, and then, utterly destroyed, what remained of the beasts simply fluttered
away on the wind.
Nothing remained but devastation, and the surviving Cherubim soon realized that without the god of light they
would soon fall from the heavens, their power of magic flight lost with him. They took what little technology
and artifacts they could, and used the remaining magic to flee the ruined kingdom for the world below.
What they found there was an untamed land, claimed by wild beasts and overgrown forests. In the midst of
this where primitive human cilizations, who where enthralled by the sight of the sapient bird-like creatures who possesed
much more knowledge then they.
Since leaving the kingdom, a strange darkness had grown in the hearts of many Cherubim, clouding their
minds and filling their hearts with a lust for power and control. They saw human kind only as a bother, and despite protests
from some of their fellows they quickly set to work culling them in huge numbers. In addition, they made slaves out of the
Thera, another primitive race that lived alongside man. Together the Humans and Thera learned to use Cherubim technology
for themselves, and began an arms race that led to a war for their world. Both sides where aided by a mysterious being known as
Nurture, while his partner Nature attempted to curtail the conflict.
In the end, the Cherubim overwhelmed their opponents, resulting in a bloody triumph. Nurture and Nature disappeared
as the dust settled, and the few remaining Humans where driven back into a far corner of the world, the one the Cherubim had called
Friegris. They where given a city in which to live by a few kind, sympathetic Cherubim whose families had opposed the war from
the start. The gate to this city was locked with a key that was then broken and thrown out into obscurity. Centuries passed, and the people of the city, called Reelton, gradually became more isolated from the outside world. They lived in relative peace until the day that a lion-bodied creature
called the Stonemason came forth from the shadows and brought together the two pieces of the key, freeing many to leave Reelton and
established settlements in various parts of the world, much to the berievement and confusion of Cherubim leaders at the time.
However, a century ago, the Stonemason vanished as mysteriously as he had come, and the two halves of the key where once again lost. Since that time the people of once-peaceful Reelton have become increasingly restless, their knowledge of the outside revitilized. This combined
with a new and oppressive local government have resulted in difficult times for it's citizens.
In addition, strange occurances first recorded a century after the arrival of the Cherubim on the surface world, known as 'Calamities', have recently spiked in regularity. This has left a patchwork of distortions and oddities on not only Reelton, but the lands beyond as well. No one seems to know what causes Calamities, or what has caused the recent increase in their appearances. Many fear that they will one day tear the world apart...
Your player character is a 12 year old human girl who was born and raised in Reelton. She is the daughter of a man who turned to
thievery after being widowed and unable to support his family. One day, she is sent by him to steal an object from the local museum,
which turns out to be one half of the key to the outside world. In the process, her father is captured and she is driven from the city, forced to
seek out the other half of the key and find the Stonemason. Once you have left the city for good, you will gradually acquire a group of close
companions while facing a mysterious organization that collections information, troublesome and helpful Cherubim political heads
alike, and the unraveling mystery surrounding the Calamities and how they tie into the world's past in a shocking way.
The Incredible Times World:
The land that the story takes place in is fictional but has no official name. It is presently divided into four-city states, three of
which are ruled by a Cherubim feudal lord. The fourth city-state is ruled by the king and queen and
is the exclusive home of royals. The city states are Friegris, Goshengait, Denvir and Dayspire, in the order that
the player visits them in-game.
Friegris is a once-fertile land that has since become a war-torn militia state under the rule of its young
but troubled feudal lord, Cartha. Reelton is also found in this part of the world, although it is isolated from the rest of the
city-state by a giant wall and the gate that prevents Humans from coming or going without the key.
Goshengait is where most humans who left under the guidance of the Stonemason settled. It is a green,
peaceful place and the only city-state where Humans and Cherubim tend to live together in harmony. Its
feudal lord is the elderly and sickly Philip, who is largely responsible for the current state of his land
and takes pride in his great work.
Denvir is a vast and abundant forest wherein the local Cherubim have developed a unique culture celebrating
slovenlyness and gluttony. They are also generally the most xenophobic population, even abhoring keeping
Thera slaves close. The feudal lord of Denvir is Asimo, known for his childlike egocentrism and rare purple plumage
color. He maintains a close relationship with the current rulers and is arguably the most politically influencial Cherubim
next to the king himself.
Dayspire is the home of the Cherubim palace and the current king and queen, Lar and Anique, as well as their
son Lister and Anique's children, the crowned prince Macbeth and princess Hiedi. Climtate wise, it is dry and
often sunny, lending to it's name. Its sparse prarie of rolling hills is often said to be unusually quiet.
