Sixteen years ago today, Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum saved the earth from alien invaders. Today, on the fourth of July, we celebrate the valiance of these great heroes, and we remember what it means to be American... and to be human.

What will YOU be doing to celebrate this great holiday? Gonna be barbecuing with your family? Gonna watch some fireworks? Or—like me—are you just gonna relax and enjoy a day off from work?

I'm enjoying a day off from work, not because it's Independence Day, but because I took vacation to be here. I'm Canadian, so we had Canada Day on the July 1st.

I'm enjoying a day off from work, not because it's Independence Day, but because I took vacation to be here. I'm Canadian, so we had Canada Day on the July 1st. (And shouldn't that be "United Statesian?" I mean, we're all Americans in one way or another. Most of us are North American, some of us are South American.)
this is such a horrible argument that people always try to start and it simply doesn't hold up. i'm gonna shoot you down with the logic behind the word "american" and then i want this **** to stop because this is a thread for celebration.

Lots of countries have long complicated names—china's official name is The People's Republic of China. Mexcio is officially called the "United Mexican States". You don't call chinese people "People's Republicans"—you call them chinese. America is the accepted shortword for The United States of America and has been for years. The word "american" has a pretty clear and understood meaning, and a few canadians or brazilians trying to seem clever aren't going to change that.

NOW BACK TO THE FIREWORKS

Well, since I seem to have stroked a nerve with what I believe to have been a humourous postulation, so I have since edited my post. You are quite welcome to do the same.

Hair trigger much? Haha. Calm her down boyo. Why so stressed? On this, the anniversary of your nation's Independance? Besides, the comment seemed harmless to me. You need to chill.

'mericuh... Frick yeah.

Edit:

I mean, we're all Americans in one way or another. Most of us are North American, some of us are South American.
Well, heck... I'm even part Native American!!

Well I myself don't celebrate it (I'm Greek) so I'll probably be busy procrastinating. But Happy 4th of July to all who do. :)

Why do people say "Happy 4th of July?" The date has not much significance outside of the US. In fact, today is anything but happy because it's raining outside and that means I'm going to get wet when I head out later.

So why not just say "Happy X of Y" all year long!?

To be honest, your post seemed heated. It seemed to have been typed by an angsty palm. If it were an audio book I'd imagine it being read by an angry Christian Bale.

You're taking this a tad too seriously.

Thanks!

I'm going to spend the day at my parents house with my kids. Going to swim, grill up some hamburgers and hotdogs, and then play some tabletop rpgs and board games with my wife, son, and daughter.

EDIT: Also, just a note, Yanks means something entirely different in the US, its generally not good form to refer to people from the Southern US as Yanks. They don't take it well.

Fine, you caught me. I am a spelling Nazi. I care not for wrongly placed apostrophes and such punctuational errors.

What is up with this? Why can't people just be happy?

If someone had made a Canada Day thread, or a Cinco de Mayo thread, or well, any holiday they wanted to do a HEY LET'S BE HAPPY for, I would have been happy to let them have it. I'd even join in even if it wasn't celebrated in my country or had NOTHING TO DO WITH MY COUNTRY because being HAPPY and CELEBRATORY is actually FUN.

When did making fun of people based on where they were born, or pointing out silly typos become more fun than actually celebrating?

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
