Inserting characters into a cutscene event

How can I insert additional characters into an event that serves as a cutscene?

For example, my game starts out with the main character talking, then he walks forward a ways, and then an unknown voice shouts something at him, and then I want several other characters to appear and approach him on screen. How can I do this?

Create a new event for each of the characters you want to appear.  Make the first page empty with no graphic.  Then add a second page to those events and give it the graphic you like.   Use the conditions box at the top left to trigger that page during your event.

take a look into "set move route" on the event selection page.

hope this helps but if your wanting to make a cut scene you need to make all the people you want into empty events with those characters sprites as graphic. Now leave everything else alone and apply and close that window. Ok with that done you need to open an event on a random square I usually use a square near the starting point of my main actor. When you open that up you will leave the graphic blank. Now from here you have several options you can start your movement which is the "Set Move Route option" or you can start your dialogue but I have come up with a small tutorial with screen shots that should help you get started it is a cutscene that I am working on right now its not finished but it should give you a good example to get started from

You don't need to have a blank first page if your second page is conditioned. If the condition isn't met, the event just won't show - you don't need to have a default "show this blank page by default" page.


The most recent blog post walks you through exactly what you're trying to achieve. It's a good technique to use, and is very well explained.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
