I'M BACK lol anyway I have another question for anyone who wishes to assist me.

So I am working on a game and am thinking about the next 'dungeon' area.  As its going to be a more Shadow/Dark themed on I was thinking about the main puzzle of the area and an Idea I had was that while you are in there you can only see about 3 tiles away from yourself unless you currently have fire.

So I was wondering is there a way to limit how much you can see in each area. Like

X-X-X-X-X

X-X-X-X-X

O-O-O-X-X

O-C-O-X-X

O-C-O-X-X

X-X-X-X-X

X-X-X-X-X

So on the (Sample Map) Above X would be tiles you would not be able to see without moving. C is where the Player would be and O would be points of visabilltiy. I think thats about as clear  as I can make what I want to do.

Thanks to anyone who helps if anyone can understand what Im asking

yes, there are several ways.

Easiest one would be to simply place black pictures above certain points (for example with event sprites or with picture command) and shut them off by other events.

If you're willing to use scripts, Tsukihime made one that could be used to hide map sections - I just don't have the link ready, it was made a few months back.

No, I mean black as in a large picture filled with black pixels.
an event without a sprite would be transparent and show anything on that position - a black picture, especially if it is larger than the grid, covers an entire area of the map and hides it.

Next time, please use a title for your thread that actually indicates what you are asking about. "Interesting Question" tells me nothing about what you need help with. It's as bad as "Please help me" and "Newbie needs some help". If I wanted to think about your question and come back later and give you an answer, I'd have a rotten time trying to find your post again.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
