Hello everyone!

I've been sorta lurking here ever since I got VX Ace December 2014, and I got an account last summer. But now I've seriously started working on my first game, and I figured it'd be a good time to introduce myself! The game I'm working on right now is much smaller than many others I'd like to accomplish, as I've read many people saying that's a good idea.

I'd like some friends/people to talk to on here, as well as any tips and tricks you'd like to give! Let's start this off with a question: for those of you who've completed a game, what would you do differently if you could? And for those of you who haven't, what are your goals?

Heya, welcome to the forums.

Best of luck with your game.

what would you do differently if you could?
Hindsight is 20/20, but after using the engine(s) for so long you eventually learn what works for you, and what doesn't. A lot of the 'wasted effort' that showed up in my other titles were a result of me still learning and/or working within the confines at the time.

My biggest takeaway from all of that was this.

"Take all feedback as positive, no matter how charged or negative it may come across.

Not all feedback needs to be acted on immediately, each player has his/her own preference and trying to please them all will leave you burnt out with nothing to show for it.

Don't be afraid of not getting any likes or comments. We can't always be in the spotlight. Just roll with it as best you can and keep going."

Cheers.

Welcome fellow new person.

Good to see others around, and this is a friendly place. You'll be just fine.

As for your question;

I just finished my first real game, if you can call it that. I'd say take everything as a learning experience, and, well, learn from it. I've been taking small steps, with just learning the program, building small duds, and only recently building something of any "value". So, take your time, and learn what you can. No rush.

It makes me really happy that so many people have replied. ٩(●ᴗ●)۶ I've heard that the RPG Maker community is discriminated against, tiny, etc etc, but seeing that a few people respond to something like this is actually quite wonderful. Even if a few people play my game, that's all I need, and I think that it's really amazing how tight this community is.

Thank you all for your warm welcome!

Hello!

Tips & Tricks: There is a cheat code in RPG Maker - open a script editor and type "crash_my_game" in the first line somewhere and it will crash your game on launch! How awesome! ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

In all seriousness I have no idea. ^^

As for your question ~ I've completed few games in RM, but they're not RPG's so what I can say would be irrelevant.

I'm making an RPG one and it's a work in progress ~ my goal is to customize it as much as possible ~ I'll be writing my own menus and battle system (and other things like minigames) to throw more life and originality to the game. (=

Good luck and welcome to the herd! (=

Don't forget, aspiring writers: Personality isn't what your characters do, it is WHY they do it.
Hello! I would like to know if there are any pluggings or any way to customize how battles look?
I was thinking that when you start the battle for it to appear the eyes of your characters and opponents sorta like Ace Attorney.
Sadly I don't know how that would be possible so I would be needing help! If you can help me in any way I would really apreciate it!
The biggest debate we need to complete on which is better, Waffles or Pancakes?
