RPG Maker Forums

Hey everybody,

I've been frequenting these forums for a couple years now, but I thought I should introduce myself now that I have a project that I'm proud to talk about. I'm from the east coast of Canada and I'm currently working on a project called The Sea Between.

My day job is as a programmer, but I've been working on this specific project for the last two years on and off in my spare time. I'd used older version of RPG Maker years ago, but a couple years ago I was looking for something to work on and I decided to give making a game a try. I was in the middle of running a Pathfinder game for a number of friends and realized that I was already world building, but I wasn't programming anything. So, I started to relearn how to use RPG Maker VX Ace to start my project, but I ran into a bunch of issues that I realized were going to take a long time to work through, so I put the project on hold.

When RPG Maker MV came out it seemed to fix a lot of the problems I was having, so I started spending more and more time making my game. I'm now about 95% through my project and while I'm the only person working on it, it wouldn't be half as good as it is today if it wasn't for the RPG Maker community and the people who are able to offer up art assets, music, plugins, and advice. It's because of all these people that I am now almost finished with a project that I am very proud of.

The project is a tribute to the SNES RPGs that I grew up with and while it will likely not win anybody over with the originality of the gameplay mechanics, I'm hoping that the story will keep people entertained in the way that I was when playing old Final Fantasy games years ago.

Feel free to follow along with the project at www.theseabetweengame.com

Glad to be a part of the community,
ColdAsSnow

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
