Invention Destruction
Current version of the game Prologue v1
The elevator pitch for my RPG is Sword Art Online meets .hack with a dash Visual Novel. A socially disordered teen with paranoia. He is shut off from the rest of the world including his family, friends and work. His only respite in a world where he feels like he doesn't belong is a VR world and an MMO called Innocent Sin Online. Here our protagonist can actually hold conversations, relationships and excel at anything he wants to do. What happens when the world you want to run away from encroaches on the world you escape to? What happens when the world you escape to starts to change and deform to a mystery that you must solve. Do you even solve it?
The main character's name, for now, is Brad. Yes, I took my own name. I took it as a place holder, but the more and more I created my world I realized I put in a lot of my own insecurities and issues. Yea... I am kind of putting my self out there with this game. The story takes some really deep personal cues from my life. The basic story arc doesn't get fully laid out in the Prologue, which is what I want to work on, but you get a serious idea.
-Lot's of Custom Scripting
-Custom Sprites
-Awesome music (At least I think so)
-Trying to stay away from the RTP Data except for some sound effects. (Not that RTP is bad)
I am hoping for the game to be a blend of inspirations. I don't expect it to win awards necessarily, though I wouldn't be apposed to that, but I want to create a game that has an interesting story. Something I will be proud to have made. I am trying to go for that classic JRPG feel of games with side view battles and some inspiration. It will have a decent cast of character's, a story that I hope could span two titles with mysteries to solve.

The game, in its current state is in an extremely Alpha. I just want to get the community's opinion mostly. See if you guys like the look of the game. The maps that are set up aren't in a final state but will be used in the final game. They've already changed around a bit internally and will probably change around some more. This way though you can kind of get a feel for the game, some dialogue and the world around you. I think the game is currently in a very short prologue state. For the story and the feel of the game though I don't know how to extend the prologue without making it feel like padding. I want the Prologue to end before the Virtual World as a sort of chapter break.
Any advice, notes or constructive criticism you have for me is all welcome. Just remember that this is still a very alpha state. If you see any error's with text, graphics, sounds or error's feel free to let me know. If you have any suggestions for any Art Asset's that would be great. I have several of the Paid content packs but I am always looking for Freely available Commercial Use assets. Tips on how to fill the maps would be great. I think I can make some fairly cool looking maps (a later section I just made) however, it feels like something is still lacking. When I look at other more experienced developers maps it feels meaty and quality. It could potentially be the tile sets I am using? However I paid money for them so their quality isn't necessarily in question but rather my ability to use them properly? I would also love to figure out some cool shading and lighting effects. I am also perpetually on the hunt for Modern / Sci-Fi / Gaming icons, tile's, generator parts etc etc etc.
I have probably read through hundred's if not over a thousand replies to threads trying to find as much as I possibly can that can fit a Commercially Viable game. I am still unsure If I want to sell what ever becomes of this project, but I want to work in those limitations because I want Game Development to potentially be a real source of income. Though I do need to make that Power Ranger RPG I've been planning for years... xD

Press F1 in game to change the various different controls and options. Also, F6 controls the scaling of the game and F5 controls the full screen of the game. There is a custom advanced script to allow for the game window to scale in a nice and proper way and still look pretty good, so give those options a try if the game window is too small. It should also help remedy any resolution changes or stretching that could occur with going full screen.

”Issues”
I know that some of my scale is off for buildings. Some of the later parts that you can't see are scaled a bit better... but those Hallways for example in the building are a bit too wide. In a future update they will be a tad smaller.
