I want to get a Game Over when my character runs out of items in the inventory during a battle. So far I'm trying with just one potion, but I use it in battle and nothing happens.
This is how the troop events look like:

And the Common Event:

I tried making a parallel event to check the inventory too but it did not work.
How do I get the check to work in battle?

Change the condition from "Don't Run" to a turn condition.

This is something that seems to confuse a lot of users, so I promise you I'm saying this to be helpful even though to some it might read as being a smartass: if your condition for a troop event is set to "don't run" which it is by default, the event doesn't run. It needs a condition to do anything.

That's absolutely how I tried to use it when I first went into troop events - I thought it meant as long as the player hadn't run from the battle.

Even though mousing over it provides a tooltip that explains it *shrug*

Also, @Alkaline unless you also use that other places there's really no sense in having the troop event call a common event - just slap that event code directly in there.

So I figured it out... I needed to set the variable in the event before the conditional branch.

Now it works as it should!!

That moment when I am listening to another instructor teach and I am thinking…I have been doing this for almost 30 years…I know this material…I teach this material…and you are confusing the crap out of me…let alone the students. What the actual $&@#! are you talking about?
Help me make a choice. Which one makes more sense?

I created a skill that can only be used if there are enemies within the player's range. When the player's range is 2, which one do you think is more appropriate to describe the range area?
Just once I would like to see some innocent person stumble upon a body in a crime show and instead of scream they sigh and just say, "Found another one."
