Is anyone here proficient at cartography artwork, or know anyone who is?

If so, let me know or give me a reference. So I'm making a world map for my game, and for that I need a high resolution, graphical map. I already have the basic shape and layout of the continents and locations, and right now it's just a black and white 'outline' of landmasses. I'm looking for someone with the artistic talent to turn that into a proper map. I've always been really interested in these styles of maps (Dragon Age and Tactics Ogre, respectively). I'd imagine this would be created via Photoshop.

Does anyone know of anyone with this kind of talent to work with me in making my map in a similar visual style? And of course, I'm not expecting this to be done without any sort of compensation or commission, of course!

Resource request is for free requests, any paid requests would go into classifieds. However, I'm not moving it because this post does not exactly fill the requirements of the classified sections.

That said, making such a map is also difficult in RM, it'll have to be done outside RM in either an image program (this would require a lot of work and probably cost 500$+ depending on detail levels), or in a special cartographing program (like http://www.profantasy.com/products/cc3.asp)

I suggest you consider what you want and then report this topic to be moved where it belongs.

Yes, this would have to done in Photoshop, with the map itself being utilized in RM Ace as a Picture. The 'World Map' is going to be a menu, like the aforementioned examples.

Yes, I imagine this would have to be a paid thing, so please go ahead and move it, my apologies. $500 however?! Maybe I'm just a poor appraiser, but I doubt it would be that much. It's just enhancing an already base layout in Photoshop. I'm willing to pay some money, but I don't think it would be half a grand.

In Photoshop, every tiny detail would have to be done independently - that's why I guessed at that high price. But of course it always depends on map size and map details.

The map in the following link was done for me by a professional mapper in the cartography program (which is intended to make such maps easier than with photoshop) about ten years ago. If I recalculate the price I paid into $ and today's rates, it would still have cost around 150$:

But for that, you have to find an artist that has such a program (which isn't cheap either)

that's would not cost 500$ no one will charge 500$ for a works who will not equal the same quality of profesionnal artist    but if you want to go in so much details this would maybe not worth the shot because of the low resolutions of rm you will lost some details so it's better to go in lowers details likes emeridia dungeon :

that's kind of maps would equal aprox 50 or 70 bucks to make but asking for maps requires a lots of details about the storylines and the game world if you don't have this your map will maybe not equal the game outline but it's better to wait until you have finish your game before investing in such thing's.

That's a pretty rad map, nio!

Yeah, keep in mind that I posted the above maps as examples of the visual style I would like. I am not expecting the exact same or better quality as the maps above, namely because you know, they're mostly examples of artwork from AAA blockbuster games. I'm not expecting uber top shelf or bust, here. Hell, that would be fantastic if I could get something like that, but not what I'm zeroing in for.

Celianna has a thing she made to help people make their own maps like this.  It requires about as much art skill to use as making a parallax map.  Umm. . . . here.  I think there's two of them actually, but I don't know where the other is.  It may have been a M+ release.

lol this not me who made this map this Richter_H who made it I just showed the best example and yes what sharm suggested could be a temporary idea when you will finish your game maybe you can worth the shot to ask a artist to make a maps for the moment because the games is still in construction I don't suggest you to ask for a maps because if you have to change radical thing's in the game plot or world the maps will be useless and it will be a trash of money

I'd agree, but my game is well into production, and the world map and shape is such a vital part of its plot I don't see it changing. I understand and appreciate your advice, however.

You could either try using this yourself, or ask someone else to make something with it for you:

and there are these:

There are general World Map materials posted here, FWIW, but I do not think it has what you need - you never know.
