I ask because I'm going to be writing some scripts, and if time/skills allow I'll be making them for both Ace and MV.  I'm interested to know how many people are still developing games with VX and XP to determine whether it's worth including versions for those as well.

Believe it or not, I still use every engine. XP is still a bit of a stranger to me, but I am learning its mysteries slowly. LOL.

But yes, people (me) still use them! I know others that aren't on forums that do. So if you develop stuff for those engines, they probably will reach people, even if they are few. But they will be even MORE appreciated, don't you think?

It would be so much easier to do XP scripts if it were more modularized, like Ace.  As it is, anything I do for it would have to be VERY simple, or would likely be incompatible with other scripts.

I imagine this was true for most XP scripts too

maybe you could write scripts to allow allies functions in scripts and other things to maje scripts more compatable with each other

or am i just waving the flags hoping the planes will appear and drop off food?

Based on the posts I see here and on some FB groups, there are people still making games in XP.

@Oddball - most incompatibilities lie on the fact that those scripts modify the same things (like two systems both for battler animation) or related things (like modifying different parts of the battle system as most of them are inter related), and as such problems or conflicts are normal and IDK if it's possible for a third-party to make something to lessen the chances of such incompatibilities. It's possible to make compatibility patches for specific scripts, but a general one will be impossible I think.

Yeah, if that's what you mean, I don't even like writing compatibility patches to make MY scripts work with someone else's.  I'm not going to put in the time required to make two scripts work together if neither of them are mine.  I really don't like making compatibility scripts.

XP is definitely still in use. I frequently see some of my steam friends working in RPG Maker XP.

Don't know anyone who still uses VX, they are probably out there. But at the same time, VX Ace is pretty much a straight upgrade of VX.

*hugs*

I still use XP~ and I definitely still see a good amount of games being made with it. Can't say the same about VX though, I might just overlook those?

True, well at least for me. I am Brazilian and used to utilizes that maker. Ins't half bad, the rpt chars are the beast from all, in contrast to the super-deformed style chars from Vx, Ace and MV that even not begin eeeerm.... "pretty" i really prefer that they have keep the XP style.

But currently i am migrating to the MV for beater and easy making.

Don't forget, aspiring writers: Personality isn't what your characters do, it is WHY they do it.
Hello! I would like to know if there are any pluggings or any way to customize how battles look?
I was thinking that when you start the battle for it to appear the eyes of your characters and opponents sorta like Ace Attorney.
Sadly I don't know how that would be possible so I would be needing help! If you can help me in any way I would really apreciate it!
