I found a battler somewhere from a non-rpg maker game and was wondering if it is OK to use it if I can find a replacement later. Otherwise I guess I can just use a dragon as an alligator battler. They both just big lizards, right?

I think there's no right answer, but I would find lacking if the demo isn't "complete". Sure, you didn't add all the weapons available for buying at the town, but don't put a sword with the icon of a pistol as a placeholder. Same with enemies: It is better (IMHO) to not include it if you don't have an art for it, because a demo will be the first contact of the player with your game.

If you do not have a licence to use a resource, then you're risking a takedown notice and possible being sued for its use in court (even if non-commercial, the difference between free and commercial game is only the amount of money you might get sued for). And if you don't get the picture from a site that clearly states in its terms-of-use that you may use it, then you don't have a licence.

How big that risk is depends on who owns the picture - using Disney property for example is a guarantee for being sued as soon as they find out. Other companies are more lenient or don't search for their property that intense.

We are never going to tell you that it's okay to use rips, for any purpose.  Check the forum rules - rips are mentioned there.

Well, its seems there is a right answer and it's a 'no.' So despite my attempt at realism that croc is gonna look a lot like a dragon.

if it's placeholder, don't worry about it :)

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
