Is it okay to create a duplicate RMW account if you can't get into your old one?

So, I'm pretty much locked out of my RPG Maker Web account (as opposed to my forum account).

You see, I can't remember my password, and thus far, I've been unable to receive the password reset email. This is a problem, because I want to order RPG Maker MV, and I need to get into my account to do so.

So, I was wondering if it would be okay for me to create a new RMW account, if I don't find some way into my current one. Would that be okay? Or would it be against the rules?

No, there are still other things you can do to try and solve it without breaking rules, like sending in a support ticket or PMing an admin.

Are the rules the same though for store accounts as they are for forum accounts? I'm truly curious...

I . . . hmm, I don't know. Still, I recommend other methods first. The things you've bought before on the web store would be tied to the old account.

I'm talking about the store account, not the forum account. Still, you are probably right.

Dear god, this is frustrating. I should have gotten this issue sorted out long ago.

It might not have been your fault - when did you make that "account"?

The first years there were no store accounts, the login was only made to ensure data security but not stored. Then about two years ago (don't remember when exactly) the main store was restructured and permanent accounts for the main store created - if your account was older, it couldn't have been available.

I'm pretty sure I have an account, considering that the website keeps trying to send me my password. And failing.
 
I'm sorry, this thing has been giving me trouble for a while now, and there's practically nothing I can do on my own to fix it. It's so frustrating. >:(

Have you made purchases under that account? If you make a new one, you will not get a link to those purchases.


Check your email spam folder (on your client AND on the server) to see if the password reset email is going in there.

No, I am not getting the email on my client; I'm also fairly sure I don't have access to the server. I should also disclose that my email account for the main store is with Comcast. I heard they block "no reply" addresses, and that's the theory I'm going with.

Incidentally, though, I filled out a support ticket (multiple in fact; long story), but have yet to receive an email. Might that be because it's a weekend right now? In that case, might I receive something on Monday?

So, I sent a mail to tech support, and apparently on the main store, if you get locked out of your account, you have little recourse but to make a new account. The main store is what I was talking about, by the way, not the forum store.

I'll wait for a second opinion before making my final decision on what to do here, though.

No, that probably means that your old account was part of the old main shop - those accounts don't exist anymore.


If you have an account in the new shop, that should be able to be restored easily without needing a new one.

I had similar issues when they updated the web store.


In the end, I did have to make a new account because the credentials were deleted. If you try to register a new account with your credentials, and it lets you, then your old account was probably deleted. If it doesn't let you, it means you have an active account.

Yeah, I definitely have an active account; the email is taken.

I honestly don't know what I'm going to end up doing at this point.

Tech support has said it's likely you will need to make a second account. Your email is in the system it seems, yet you can't access it and tech support doesn't seem to be able to help. Personally, I would just go ahead and make the second account.

It's not the same as here on the forum, where you could make a second account to pretend to be different people and troll, which is, at least largely, why that rule is in place. You are making a second store account to give them more of your money. You have tried going through all the proper channels, unsuccessfully.

My non-mod, non-staff, non-admin opinion is that common sense says at this point it is okay to go ahead and make another account.

My concern with your question though, was if you have an existing account and it has purchases listed against it, when you create a new account, those purchases won't be available to you. You might be able to ask support to transfer them across though, if they can see what's listed under the old email address.

Yeah, that's what I'm gonna try.
