How often do you see gags in cartoons where characters become inflated from eating too much food? Wouldn't that pass for an inflation or feeding fetish? What about cartoons where characters suddenly become shrunken or giant? What about those scenes they might be swallowed by a giant monster? You could probably even pull off light foot fetish content in your RPG as long as you keep it conveyed in-text, and avoid fixating an unusual amount of attention to feet
There's a game developer I liked a lot back in the day who had a thing for girls underwater. If you played all the games you'd likely pick up on it, but if you only played one you'd be like "Of course it makes sense a quarter of the game is underwater" and not think it was a fetish or anything.
I personally have a thing for the concept of taboo and have thus put taboo things in my games. How big of a deal and how it is done is what really matters since there's a big difference between (say) a slight crush between siblings in optional scenes in a light-hearted game versus explicit incest scenes in a game about politics and marriage.
There's definitely things I've put into games that wouldn't let me share them on this site :L As with all things, just check to see if the thing you are putting in your game serves the game you are making.
I think this topic is not about what I am thinking. It is about what is considering decent in different countries:
The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESR)
Teen (T): aged 13 years and older
Games with this rating contain content which the ESRB believes is generally suitable for those aged 13 years and older; they can contain content such as moderate amounts of violence (including small amounts of blood), mild to moderate use of language or suggestive themes, sexual content, and crude humor.
Some countries consider 16 years-old need "Parental accompaniment required for younger audiences." It is not even you who determine the factor. Yeah, ask the parents here if they want their kids to play your games lol. It is more concerned with the parents. I think many people here in general support your artistic expression.
Others already covered it but still, yeah go for it as long as your not beating us over the head with it.
See Dragon Quest 11. (BIG SPOILERS AHEAD) You get twin sisters in your party, except one got her magic stolen and she shrunk (idk why) into a loli. You beat the evil she gets her powers back and is still small? She even uhh... Makes a quick trip to the underworld and back, blessed by the goddess of the land and for some reason still a loli? It's weird ok, but it's not shoved in our face and it makes her different from her very crappy, very plain sister.
if it can be done with a spell or magic item that exists by default in D&D theres no reason it should be shamed for existing. and everything mentioned by OP is in D&D.
edit: these all just fall into magic lore. when "kinks" get sketchy is when it has nothing to do with magic or mind control and it just boils down to an individuals personality, because people are F'd up.
Just like any performing art, you can take it anywhere you like. It's best to balance what you think could be acceptable and whether others would have an open understanding. Fetishes can be strange to many. I would say that if you make it fun and add some comic relief in to it, like a comedian does when they talk about sensitive topics, then you and the viewer can smile and laugh about it, suddenly your strange fetish becomes a light hearted expression.
@AfroKat What the heck are you talking about with DQ11? I've played that game to literally 100%, and what you said was completely false. For one, yes, Veronica does turn into a loli. She basically is the definition a loli. She acts like a sassy 12 year old girl, and that's fine. That's just her personality. She's not even sexualized, unlike someone like Elise and especially Nowi from Fire Emblem. Also, at the end of Part 1, Veronica
freaking dies for good. No coming back. You even see her corpse and have a burial and everything. She only comes back because you go back and time and undo literally half of the game in Act 3 to bring her back along with a bunch of unnamed NPCs who died off-screen. Veronica never "traveled thought the underworld and back." Did we play different games? Veronica died for good and her soul returned to The Void since the World Tree, the source of reincarnation, was gone. Veronica's spirit then shared her energy with Serena who gained all her powers. Also Serena is NOT a bland character. She goes though an actual arc involving her coping with Veronica's death. Jade is more bland then her, and people only like her for her body. Her arc is literally resolved literally 5 minutes after you get her and after that she just acts as "Ms. Fanservice" for the rest of the game. Sadly, Serena's arc, like nearly every other arc in the game, is completely undone in Act 3 because the devs wanted a 100% happy fanservice ending with no sacrifices being made or consequences. They even broke their own time travel rules just so that LITERALLY EVERYONE could have a happy ending. The only arcs that didn't disappear was Eric's and Sylvanno's which were replaced with lesser versions and you had to go though an "easy-pass" version of their arc to get to a nearly identical, though far less satisfying, conclusion. Sadly, no other character got their development back, even in a lesser manner like Eric or Sylvanno. Serena and Veronica are reverted to their arc 1 selves and Hendrick becomes good out of nowhere without a year long time skip to reconsider his actions and step up as a true hero in the Luminary's absence. TLDR, Act 3 sucks, Veronica shouldn't stayed dead. Sorry for the rant.
Also, please better mark your spoilers. The game is only 1 year old (for the Switch release which was the main version people played outside of the PC elitists) and the spoiler tab exists for a reason. Thank you.
Edit: Also, it's the "Spirit of the Land," not "Goddess of the Land," who never actually appears in game and is hinted to be completely fictitious. The only deity in DQ11 is
Yggdragon, and you only meet her at the end of the true ending route.
Veronica never meets
Yggdragon until literally the last cutscene, and that's long after she was supposed to die AND is in another timeline from the one she died in.
Also, when Veronica's magic was sucked into that shark guy's jar, her "age" somehow was sucked in as well, and she never got that back, for some reason. The game explicitly states this. My head cannon is that the reason Veronica didn't age up again was because she WANTED to be young again. Dialogue with her after the dungeon you get her in implies this. ("You know what they say, you only live young twice!") That's also the reason why
Morcant didn't keep her as an adult when he had Serena and Veronica perform the ritual to power up the space whale.
Also, I highly doubt making Veronica a loli was done with any malicious intent. She's never sexualized not once (in spite of DQ's history of giving every female character sexy optional outfits to wear) They just wanted a kid character and put a twist on it. It also opened the gates for a lot of funny jokes, so that's there. It was definitely not a fetish and implying the p-word is a fetish is completely disingenuous to people who have non-traditional sexual interests. The only yikesy thing about Veronica is Eric's implied crush on her, mainly implied with his incredibly strong reaction
When Veronica dies.
Sorry about these long rants, I just get very passionate about my favorite games. (DQ11 is my third favorite game of all time after FF12 and Hollow Knight) Sorry if I came off a little rude in this post lol.
I dunno about this usually fetish content i see often comes up in +18 games, where it's more acceptable. Have a 16+ game involving fetishes seems to be asking for it especially if it's a series of games being made.

It all depends on what type of fetish it is though.
Like, everyone knows Quentin Tarantino has a thing for feet, but if you only ever watched one of his movies it's not that noticeable. And for most people feet are completely innocent so...
Also kids cartoons. I distincly remember several Totally Spies episodes with scenes that were DEFINITELY fetishes. (Like the episode where the girls are tied to a cookie forcefeeding machine and gain like 500 pounds.)

There are exceptions to those rules. considering there is some fetish content that's harmless and others that can be harmful or encourage such tendencies.
I think it's also important to separate fetishes into different categories;
A) Something you have as a fetish but is otherwise seen as completely normal. Feet is a perfect example, you can show off feet in a completely nonsexual manner.
2) Something that is generally perceived only as a fetish. If the medium is basically anything other than kid's cartoons, "furry" characters seem to get jumped on immediately for being fetish fuel.
C) Something that is safe in some circumstances but can easily cause people to flip out. There's nothing wrong with children characters. There's also nothing wrong with children having crushes. But a lot of people will instantly hate your media if you go even an inch further and maybe even for less if children 'seem' to show up too much.
You can use any of the three in your games. And the categories are pretty simplistic, you'd likely want to look into how how the kink is perceived and what other games/media use that kink to either good or terrible effect.
All right, that does it. My next game is going to have a female protagonist and all the other party members are going to be shirtless, muscular males. Additionally, most monsters will be of the tentacle-having variety, all armor will be leather and/or officer hats, whips will be the main weapons, and...I'll think of some other things. But the game story and interactions will all be entirely wholesome and heartwarming.
Your the author of your game. And it's perfectly okay. Will your kinks be socially acceptable is another question altogether. (I found that one out the hard way)
It depends on if it is an erotic game or not, because of publishing.
If it is NOT an erotic game, you can reference it with some unspoken winks and nods.
Who is the audience, do they want to see that kink? Or do they not really care? You can pander to them in a fan service way, just like anime does sometimes- showing characters in suggestive ways but without going past the line. "oh no, I've spilt my icecream on myself Yuri *shudders*, *licks icecream off self with finger, various close up shots, aheago face* wow Yuri, this icecream sure is tasty, mmmm"
You could convey a similar suggestiveness as an easter egg of sorts, to put a piece of yourself into the game, to make it what you'd want to play.
But, as far as the player is concerned, you need to wonder how every aspect of the game makes them feel and what do you want your kink-suggestions to make them feel, and does that serve the game?
It's fine for me if anyone can help with my next project. My next game is visual novel and will going to be M for Mature (17+). Can't find any of the team to help me with RPG Maker MV maps and arts. I'm still waiting.
Hello! I would like to know if there are any pluggings or any way to customize how battles look?
I was thinking that when you start the battle for it to appear the eyes of your characters and opponents sorta like Ace Attorney.
Sadly I don't know how that would be possible so I would be needing help! If you can help me in any way I would really apreciate it!
