I have RPG Maker VX Ace & I'm currently working on a game that I decided make 16 characters for. 4 main & the other's are just extras/random characters (Inspired by Chrono Cross). I want to have separate dialog depending on who's the leader. I figured out how to do that, but the problem I have is that it only allows me to use up to the 8th character's Actor ID. It's when creating an event:

Control Variables>Operands>Game Data>Party>Member #1's Actor ID

The Member #'s only go up to 8 & I need it to go up to 16. Is there any way to change that?

It's because it's Actor ID of members in the PARTY... by default you can only have up to 8 I guess...

you could just do

$game_variables[38] = $game_party.members[0] or was it 1?

or maybe

$game_variables[38] = $game_party.leader

38 => Number of the game variable that you will be setting the value for

I use that in order to set the variable at a specific number when the actor is the leader. That way I can set a conditional branch so a specific text box appears when that character is the leader. I"ll add an example. If there's any other way to do this, I'd greatly appreciate the help.

Sorry, I didn't see the edited post. Could you give me a quick example? I apologize, I'm somewhat new to the program.

instead of Control Variables, ur gonna use the script option on the third tab...

btw you don't need to set it to zero afterwards, as long as you use SET and not ADD... the script counterpart I gave you is setting the value so you don't need all of the Control variables = 0 anymore

How can I keep the main character from being able to change from the 1st Formation slot? In case I can't fully figure it out.

Again, sorry, your post was edited before I was finished with mine haha. I saw I set it to add now, thanks for that haha.

It's because you used ADD instead of SET in the first control variables... I already told you to use SET so that you won't need to reset to 0... and seriously, you've been able to use SET to 0, but you used ADD for the initial setting...

On another note, IF this cannot be done, how can I keep the main character from being able to change from the 1st Formation slot?
I ALREADY TAUGHT YOU HOW TO DO IT ON MY FIRST POST

and I mean TAB, look at the upper left part of the Event commands, you'll see numbers from 1 to 3, those are the tabs...

First of all, I don't get notified when you edit a post. I have to refresh & then scroll up. You could have been more specific. I figured it out already, but you were a little unclear. No need to get upset, I was simply asking for assistance & I had explained I'm somewhat new to this program. I apologize for the frustration, but it was merely a misunderstanding. Thanks for the assistance regardless.

Is this resolved now?

Not the initial question, a simple "No, it's not possible" would suffice. I apologize, I'm not a forum person. This is the first problem I encountered that I thought I'd ask for assistance with hope that there was a possibility to change that max 8 to a 16. It'd be much easier for me, if not, I'll figure something out & this would be a resolved question. Thank you.

Though it can be overcome with the method that I told you on my first post... and that effectively bypasses the 8 max...

So it's not a complete NO... No, you cannot change the GUI since it will be against the EULA, but you can use the other built in feature which is the script call event command to do it

What exactly are you trying to do? Have a different conversation depending on who is the party leader?

In that case, you ALWAYS want to use Member #1, because Member #1 is the party leader (the 1, 2, 3 ... there is order in the party, not in the actor's tab, or the order in which they were added to the party). If you use the Formation menu to move Actor 16 into first spot, then Party Member #1's Actor ID will be 16.

You don't WANT to know Member 16's actor id, because that's the LAST person in your party lineup.

You want to do Control Variables:

Variable (single) [0380: Party Leader]

Operation: Set <--- THIS is what you've got wrong in the screenshot in your second post.

Operand: Game Data > Party Member #1's Actor ID

That was exactly what I was trying to do & doing this worked, thank you for the clarification on what "Member #1" meant. Yes, adiktuzmiko pointed out that I had the Operation at Add & I fixed it. Having it to add threw me off as to what I thought "Member #1" meant so I wasn't sure if it were possible. Thank you, I greatly appreciate the assistance! I'm still somewhat new to this, I apologize for any inconvenience.

Note - if you disable formation, then Member 1 will always be the first actor added to the party, and it'll never change.

I mentioned SET instead of ADD because I knew Adiktuzmiko had said it as well a few posts ago, but I didn't know if you'd actually done it yet.
