Is it possible to make side scrolling enemies?

I have rpg maker mv, is it possible to make 2d side scrolling enemies like in castevania, kirby??

or do I have the wrong engine?

Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
