Is RPG Maker MV's HTML5 output supposed to work on MS Edge?

An unmodified empty project, when deployed to Web browsers and opened locally in Edge, spits out the following warnings:

Is this supposed to be happening?

Is Edge supported?

Or maybe I'm not supposed to open any HTML5 deployed game locally, but only from a webpage?

No such issues on Firefox so far.

It can be one of two reasons:

1) security settings on the browser prevents webaccess to local files, and the browser doesn't understand that the html is opened locally.
In this case you need to tell the browser that the access is allowed (chrome has the same problem in some installations)

2) Microsoft tried again to force a non-standard browser on the users in order to force their own standards above the commonly accepted.
In that case, nothing can be done until they tire of that (you might want to check the history about the Netscape Navigator/Internet Explorer war)

These days, Microsoft is behaving well regarding web standard. Google on the other hand, it's mimicking what MS did in the 90s since webkit became the most used engine. Apple is also misbehaving, by trying to stay in the way of any standards that will benefit non-iOS users only.
