Is there a way to force an action button press, outside of combat?

Title says it all :)

Can't find anything through eventing, maybe I'm overlooking something?

To be more clear though, I'm trying to make an event force the button press.

Why?

If there's not an event command to do it, and not an easy way to do it via scripts, then it's probably not meant to be done, which means you're probably trying to achieve whatever you want "the hard way".

At a guess, I would say you're trying to do something that could be achieved by the 'activating' event by using a move route with the 'target' event as the subject. Or something that should be done using switches.

I want to make a search function.

It may be the hard way, but it's the best someone with my scripting knowledge could come up with without requesting a script :p

Basically if you go up and press the action button on a tree it says and does nothing, but if you open my little menu I've created and you press "search" I'd have it set a switch and then that event would now respond with a: you dont find anything or b: you find blah!" and then turns off the switch.. best I could think of :/

So you have an event. It's absolutely nothing first page.. I want a little ring to be hidden in the grass say. If you were to press the action button you would not find it. If you press the R button I have a menu that pops up with a set of commands, one of which is search. If you select search, a switch is first turned on in the event, making it return with "You find nothing" and then shutting the switch off. But I could also have it return with the item.

Having a search function is ideal for the game type I'm making and I pretty much can't live without it :o

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
