I'm wondering, is there some way to make the shadow pen tool bigger than a quarter of a tile? The maps i'm working on atm require lots of dark shadowyness everywhere, and it's a bit of a hassle to swath the tiny shadow pen tool everywhere.

There's not a way to do it by using the program itself, but you could make a tile a little bit darkened to simulate shadowing, but that's a little bit too uncomfortable since you'll have to make events to tile over them.

I have often used the slightly darkened tile approach (sometimes a whole tile, or half a width tile, or a diagonal only tile), set to star passability, which makes a nice touch as the party goes dark/light as it enters/leaves the shadow.  If it is applied over Tile A tiles, there is no problem.  It is only if it is applied over a Tile B-E tile that the problem sets in, as it wipes out whatever is there.  However, if it is just the ground or walls that you want darkened, then it is a viable option.

It's in page 2 of the Event Commands, under Picture and Weather.

You could also look into parallax mapping (there's a few tutorials for it around here somewhere), for complete control how your maps end up looking like. This way you can paint in shadows in a different program (like Photoshop), then make it show up as a picture in-game, and it'll overlay on top of the map (and also make characters look darker if they enter a shadow!)

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
