RMMZ Is there a way to prevent the player from skipping through text?

Normally, the player can press Enter to cause all text in a message window to appear all at once (while still taking into account escape codes like \. and \|, which delay the text). I wanted to know if there's a way to temporarily disable this feature just for one scene, because I want the text to sync with some BGM (creating a sort-of-cinematic feel without using videos). I have a workaround where I can use \> to have the the text appear automatically, which effectively gives me what I want. However, I doesn't look quite as nice as letting the text draw.

I put this in the JS/Plugin board because I assume you need a plugin to accomplish this.

What I have done in the past is have the text appear as a picture so I can have it stay on the screen as long as I want. I did this to synch with BGM but I would recommend being careful with this method because I have seen people complain they couldn't read the text fast enough.

That's a good option, similar to my workaround. But what I wanted was to have the text draw like normal and temporarily disable the fast-forward thing. And yeah, it will take some playtesting whichever method I use, you're right.

It does sometimes get a little embarrassing that I often come here to ask for help with something and seldom have anything to actually show for it. If there is one thing though I can commend myself for, it's for sticking with an idea I've been tinkering with for this long now and gradually making headways. Even though I've been reserved about my progress, I can say I'm farther now than where I initially started.
