Is there a way to use a time limit to activate switches or common events?

Basically I am using a class that has spells dependent on the weather. She can change the weather by using a spell but I want the weather that she creates to run on a time limit. That way, when the time limit is up, the weather will change back to normal thus blocking her ability to use certain spells. Thanks in advance for any help :D

Maybe use the "Wait" command? Or how about the "Timer" that loops?

The timer doesn't work as it just activates a timer on the screen then goes to the next line for the event. I tried using the wait command but it makes it so you can't move at all while the even is playing. So once the spell is cast the player wouldn't be able to move for the duration of the spell. This defeats the point as you cant actually do anything with it then.

You can just have the spell turn on a switch that triggers a parallel common event that will increase a specific variable by 1 every 60 frames (which should be equal to 1 second in most cases) and also check the value of said variable. If it reaches a certain amount (let's say, 200), it will set the variable to 0, change the weather to whatever the default one is supposed to be and turn the relevant switches off, including the one that activetes the common event.

Maybe make a different, separate event that is parallel and uses the "Wait" command/function?

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
