Hello,

In MZ, I am currently working on the World map. When the Map is at 100% in editor I feel it is too close to the actor and ground.
Is there a way to pull the camera further up? Which would reveal more map. I come from a 3D Background so I may not understand fully the "how" RPG maker does this.

Hello,

When the Map is at 100% in editor

You want to zoom out in the editor or in game?

In the editor is a ctrl+mousewheel thing, in game it will require either a plugin or the corresponding scripT.

Yes, In game.
I see lots of zoom in plugins but I have not found the ability to zoom out to reveal more map. Giving the feeling that you are further away.

You can make the player sprite smaller... It's not going to reveal more map but definitely looks like it's further away.

I've moved this thread to Plugin Requests. Thank you.

Not sure what you mean by "too close to the actor and ground"?

depends, but it is not as easy as it would be with 3D models.

first you can increase the screen size in the database. screen size should be multiple of grid size (48x48 by default) and in the same aspect ratio as most monitors. also remember that screen size will be the minimum for the game to work - if you increase screen size to a large number then everyone playing needs to have a monitor that can support that size.

increasing screen size will make more of the map visible to the player and solve part of your problem without plugins.
but going beyond that will require plugins, and then there are three possible ways to continue.

1) changing grid size is easy with the correct plugins, but a lot of work as you would have to resize all resources to work with the new grid size.
2) map plugins provide an overview, but you usually can't walk on that mapscreen
3) negative zoom is what you describe, but the mathematics for that are different than regular zoom and I don't know if any of the zoom scripts can go negative.
