For one of my levels, I'd like to be able to zoom out to give the player a better sense of scale. Is there a way to achieve this?

I did find a bit of code that works well for zooming in,
$gameScreen.setZoom(x,y,zoom)

However, this script only works for zooming in. When I tried using it to zoom out, it didn't actually show more of the map on a smaller scale, it just made everything smaller and added more black space around the edges.

Is this even possible?

To save memory and prevent lag, the actual drawn part of the map is kept as small as possible - only enough to fill the game window plus one or two tiles around it.

I've moved this thread to Plugin Requests. Thank you.

there are some zoom plugins, but I don't know if they would handle this.

Increasing the screen resolution can show more of the map.

I'm thinking of devouring some tutorials for RPG Maker MV. Just all kinds: mapping, spriting, programming, ect. the whole works! :)

Maybe videos, my brother and I can sit down and watch them during one of our weekly business meetings.
