RPG Maker Forums

I just got RPG Maker VX Ace and have been playing with it and reading some tutorials. I've experimented with creating different encounters and even forced event battles. But I had an idea but I just can't seem to figure out how to do it (or if it's even possible)

I made an encounter in which the hero enters the final room of a dungeon to confront the boss. I have set to where you see him standing in the center of the room, and that once the hero steps in front of him he enters a dialogue and then a battle starts. I got to where the boss defeats the player (impossible to win on purpose) and start a second scene where the boss boast his powers makes some thunder and shakes the screen. The whole cliche I am almighty routine. After his short boast then the animation for a dark attack envelopes him and knocks the hero backwards. I got there. Where I want to go from there is have a mysterious figure (appropriately named ???) appear in front of the boss between the boss and hero and start a second battle (if possible that the player does not control) where ??? uses a single spell to defeat the boss and finish the fight.

Where I have problems is trying to figure out how (if) I can make a new character appear on the map after a certain event, and run a second event after completing the first. If anyone has any idea how to do this or if it's even possible I would greatly appreciate it.

And before everyone starts pointing out how cliche and unoriginal it is. I know. It was just the scenario I had in mind to figure out how to make characters appear and after being up for 18 hours trying to figure it out (yes I Googled but either I suck at it or nooone made a tutorial on this kind of event) I decided to come here.

On my journey of character rework: I had this character, she was meant to be just a princess that joins your party. And at long term she was just uninteresting... So I tweaked her to be a rebel agaisn't the royalty before meeting up with the party.

Quick tip for any other ametuer pixel artists! When trying to create a colour palette, enabling Antialiasing can speed up the process of creating different shades! Just place your lightest colour and your darkest colour next to each other, select both pixels, and stretch it out!
