RPG Maker Forums

Good evening all -

I hate for one of my earliest posts to be a troubleshooting thread, but I'm stuck and I don't know what else to do to troubleshoot.

I am using RMMV 1.3.4 via Steam.  I have not updated (to my knowledge) since I bought it a couple weeks ago.

I have no active plugins.

I am using a mix of tilesets including the basic (RTP I think just from my reading), plus some of the FSM "Town of New Beginnings" tile sets.

When I try to launch a playtest, the screen immediately jumps to a black screen and throws a "TypeError undefined is not a function."  F8 does not bring up a Developer Console.  Nor does F12 (saw that posted on a thread somewhere).  I did not have this problem last night.

I've made a few changes since then:

- I merged a few sprites onto a backup of one of the tilesets I'm using (copying over existing spaces).  Within the editor, it looks fine.  I tried going to a non-merged tileset just to check this; didn't help.

- I've added several enemies and troops.

- I've added several new maps and scripted events.

- I populated the passage/passability of several items on the FSM tileset which had been set by default on load to all passable.

I'm happy to post any screenshots or try any trouble-shooting recommended, but I'm really at a loss for where to even start.   In theory, I've "only lost a day" but it's a pretty painful day to lose because I normally only get 30-45 minutes a day to work on this (real life), and today was a nice, extremely rare 6 hour block of time while the kids were at their grandmother's.

Any ideas or additional details needed?  Hope you guys know some magic!

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
