Issues with compression

Hello and good afternoon!


I have recently reached an issue with compressing a game. It is similar to the one in this article, but I'm not entirely sure what kind of setup the OP had.


I recently upgraded was forced to upgrade to Windows 10 like many other people who slip up and forget get rid of the annoying pop up. Other than that, nothing seems to be out of place. The program works in all other aspects, but when I try to compress it, it stops when it gets to the end. Gets to the end really fast. 


I have tried to recompress and recompress over to the desktop to no avail. Any other methods I can try?

Also, I get this pop-up when I re-open RPG Maker VX Ace. (I have to open the task manager to get it to stop running.)

I have Windows 10 64 bit Home too, but it works perfect fine with encrypting the file and install it.
Both works without any errors.

Do you have your project in programm files folder?
Then move it to dokuments, or download or somewhere else. Then it should work perfect fine. (\ô/)

I tried it as you said before and this time I left it along for about at least 30 minutes.


This time it gave me the message that it failed. I will try again, since the other times I have force quit the program. I will try it again, and hopefully it will compress successfully this time.


Wish me luck! I will probably get back sometime within 24 hrs or so since work and all.

An other thing you can try, is running RPG Maker VX Ace as an admin.
Go where your maker is located, then right click, go the compatibility header and after that check the box "run as admin".
That I didn't need to do on Windows 10, but on Windows 8.1.
So may it fixes your issue. (\ô/)

What is the size of your project folder, and did you make that archive with or without encryption, with or without RTP included?

@Gothik Lolita Unfortunately, it did not compress.


@Andar This is the most recent version I have before this issure It's 2 Gbs so quite a bit.


And this was encrypted and with the RTP included. I have tried both non-encryption and without RTP as well, and still no luck. 


I did get it through steam, so will that have any effect on it? Again, so far it hasn't, but obviously now is different. 


EDIT:


I have made a new project, only one map, nothing else, and when compressing that, the game did go ahead and compress successfully. Without Encryption, with encryption,and RTP and encryption. 


Could it be one of the files I added to the project itself? The only thing I could think of is making a special tile for map making, only on the world map, but it followed all rules, I believe. PNG file, 36x36 pixels. 


That's the only thing that's coming to mind. I am going to try to take it out and see if the file compresses then.

So your project was once allready encrypted, then you decrypted it with the tool and tried to re encrypt it?

I guess the mistake lies there then.
You can only encrypt one time. A second time will lead to a crash.  (\ô/)

@Gothik Lolita No, I didn't do that. I compressed the file again, after I tried aborting it in mid-compression, since again, the issue is that it wasn't responding.


Also, I did open a second instance of Ace, moved a map there, the one that was most recently modified, and then the game compressed as normal.


So, from what I'm thinking is, there is a file I may have imported that is causing this type of issue. I do have some sound files but they are in a OOG format, and I had it in a previous project that I scrapped to test out Ace, so those files aren't it. 


I'm guessing it's the tiles I edited and tried to put into Ace that are stopping it.


I tried to expand this located in the Field set, tab B, so it could look like there was a bigger place in it, but I'm guessing this is the game breaker. 


Any ways I can work around this?

Okay, so I decided to create a new project and immediately import this into it. No issues, it compressed like normal. So, I'm guessing this is user error of some sort, something that I am missing. 


So anyways, any final thoughts, anything I should look out for at all?
