Hi, fellow makers:

I can't seem to use the spawn event properly.
Can someone please enlighten me?

Event source (template)
Map: 001
Event: 053
Name: Erina template

Target map: 030

Target X-coordinate: 2
Target Y-coordinate: 2

I event set up a switch to track whether the spawn is successful or not.
Here's the weird part, I don't see any new event spawns, but the switch says the spawn is successful!!!
(It was off before I talk to NPC and on after talking to NPC.)

The original event wording has this script for X & Y:
$gamePlayer.frontX()
$gamePlayer.frontY()

I've tried everything from:
2
2

$gamePlayer.frontX(2)
$gamePlayer.frontY(2)

Does anyone know the answer to this?
Thank you.

The second screenshot should have worked. The spawned event should have appeared on tile 2,2 if you do that. Screenshot 4 is never going to work, because there already is an event in front of the player (namely the one you're interacting with).

Oh, so that's what that piece of code means.

Ok, I'll try to work on it more.
Will the event only spawn on specific tiles?
I asked this because I tried to demo it on a blank map and I'm sure that the event did not spawn at all, although the switch says otherwise. :(

Well, you've set a few options as true, meaning event can only spawn on tilese where there isn't already an event and where events can actually walk on (so it won't be able to spawn in a wall, for example).

Spawning definitely works as I've tried it myself in their demo project.
Try and change it to the
$gamePlayer.backX()
$gamePlayer.backY()
as that will make it spawn behind you.

Thank you very much!
I think I know why.

I wanted to be cautious, so I even copied and pasted the event name word-for-word.
However, I just realized that doing so will NOT cause the event to spawn for whatever reason.

If I remove the name, the event will spawn properly.
I guess this was why I wasn't able to see the event spawn, but the switch said that the event spawned successfully.

My event has a name and it's not called untitled.
But for whatever reason, if I leave that field blank, my event can spawn.
Just a heads-up for those who may encounter the same issue in the future.

Thank you for helping me, as always.
Take care! :)

oh, hey, I forgot about all this!

my old project got abandoned after I started working too much on stuff I'd already worked on - plus, starting to hate the story I wrote for it. Then, well, a lot of serious life **** went down. I ended up moving across the country, cutting off some people, etc. - **** was rough.

So, uh, I guess I'm back for now? Funny how things work.
I'm glad I'm sticking to my guns on having fighting game mechanics in my game, from what I've read, it's not for everyone. but for the most part, I've made it so you don't have to use them motion inputs for attacks if you don't want to.
And my project's just entered the Lunar New Year Sale 2022... Let's see if it reaches it's goal of $ 7,77.
