I heard mention early on in this contest of someone making an Itch.io submission walkthrough/tutorial or experience description. With the deadline looming, I'm wondering if that's still a thing?

Also, on a side note, I seem to be the one and only person who is making a thread here and feel naughty about it... :LZSoops::LZYoops::LZYshock::LZSangel:

Yep I got behind on putting the guide together. I'll make sure to get that up in the next few days. Should go live around the < 1 week marker.

If you want to get started, itch.io does a good job guiding you through the submission process. You can also find documentation here: https://itch.io/docs/creators/game-jams#the-submission-process

The site is indeed very self-explanatory. Just take a look.

    After logging in,
go to the upper right corner,
    where your avatar+username is.
    Open the dropdown menu,
    click on "upload new project".

    Start filling in the form.
You'll need a cover image, which has to be 315x250px.
This can either be a .png or .gif. I think .jpg also works.

Everything you fill in is saved as a draft,
until you change that in the last part of the form.
(So you have to check public instead of draft!)
You can add and change and go back and forth until you feel it's perfect.
If you reached that point, check "public" and the page will go live.

Afterwards you can always access the "edit" from your game's page.
Also you can check out the analytics from there
    or your dashboard.

I would really like an outsider to tell me if I submitted my entry properly, since I am really not sure. From my perspective, it appears one can access my DropBox folder, but I cannot tell on my own if the game works from there. https://itch.io/jam/igmc2017/rate/190677

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey Stefanos! I was unable to run the .exe file from this the way it is packaged. I was able to get my project to work perfectly by testing it on my machine first, then zipping it into a .zip file with 7-zip, and then directly uploaded it to itch.io rather than do the dropbox option. I hope this helps!

This is probably a little off topic, but I tried to submit a linux version and it was BUGGGGGGGYYYYY. I don't have linux to test it or figure out why the deploy doesn't work.

Is there something else one has to do to deploy to linux?

(when I tried to deploy to mac, it wouldn't work at first either, but I was able to see eventually that it was because of spaces in file names. I have no clue what's going on with the linux package)

Thank you for letting me know. Interestingly your experience differs from my father's, who managed to download it from the DropBox link in order to play. I uploaded a newer version of the game through the same method as before, so I hope the judges are able to experience my game the same way as my father did.
