Item usage + all scripts provided = Type error undefined is not a function

Ok I have converted the game I made from rpgmaker vx ace to rpgmaker mv. Then I added all the provided plugins (I preordered). I did not make any adjustments on the plugins (when I mean adjusted I mean when you are at the plugin manager and clicking on plugins) .  Then I went to battle and used an Item. I get an error on all items.

The error I got was Type Error: Undefined is not a function.

Is it the maker mv or is it one of the scripts that my eyes did not catch, or is it me?

If you added every single plugin and enabled them in the plugin manager, it's very likely that you didn't take the time to setup a plugin correctly. Yanfly has provided many plugins to interact with the battle system, and their plugins almost always require you to configure them properly before they work.

If you disabled/delete all the plugins from the Plugin Manager, do the issues go away? If so, then you need to take the time to configure the plugins in your project so that they will function properly.

Ok it was fixed when I turned off all scripts.

Here is what I know:

Here is what I don't know:

<The Placing  all the other plugins that is not Yami's.>

<How to create a border that would divide the plugins that I see in Yami's youtube videos. an example of what i mean :

If the ---divider---- means anything.

the divider is there just to help organize the plugins ins like you could have in vx ace. 

it depends on the plugins you want. you technically dont want to put all the plugins and turn them on as they may conflict with each other. 

for example yanfly menu will propbably conflict with the alt menu and the victory screens might conflict with each other. 

traditionally plugins/scripts labeled core always go on top while other "addons" go below that. 

you could technically have 

"script abc"

"yf core"

"script def"

"yf battle core"

"yf item core"

"script ghi"

"script jkl"

"yf action sequnce" 

etc 

etc

thing you have to be sure about is that the "core is place above all scripts/addons that require that core

Ok right now I did the process of elimination and noticed that these two are what's causing the conflicts.  

YED-RetainstatesOnDeath

YED-TransferstealStates.

They are apart from the Yami plugin group. as in  I had the core and engine at the top and the two that caused the problem were at the bottom.

It may not be specifically those plugins, but if you added ALL the plugins that came with the preorder, it could be an incompatibility between those and one or two others.  

Can you disable ALL the other plugins and just leave those two enabled?  Then try again and see if the error still happens.

This will let us know if it's a bug within the plugin, or an incompatibility issue.

Could you please also provide screenshots of your plugin list, so we can see what else you have in there, and what order they're in.  It MAY be that the solution could be as simple as reordering.

Ok so I disabled all except the two plugin that was giving me some problems and still have the problem.

(I kinda reverted it back to normal a couple minutes ago, but I turned the two plugins off.)

as for the screen shot I will give it in a bit.

I have been having a problem for some time now and I hope someone here can help me.


I am using RPG Maker MV through Steam. Now, I didn't know how the update worked and installed it through this website by accident. After learning my error I uninstalled everything and then reinstalled, and copy/pasted my game back into it.


Now here is my problem. Whenever I hit the Playtest button in the Editor I receive the same message Type Error: Undefined is not a function. 


I did what you suggested and turned off all my plugins and it still gives me the error message. My guess is there is something in the base software itself. So how do I fix that?

But it sounds like your plugins are either misconfigured, or you didn't update your project's base files correctly.

Hello! I would like to know if there are any pluggings or any way to customize how battles look?
I was thinking that when you start the battle for it to appear the eyes of your characters and opponents sorta like Ace Attorney.
