I just kinda noticed that the game making mood on the forums has been pretty dull lately. No offence or anything but back then on vx.net the activity, especially in the Project Development forums, was never this low, there was always a pretty tight competition to be honest. Everybody seems to be "taking a break" after getting excited just for a little while after RPG Maker VX Ace came out. Don't you guys think it's time to do something to raise the game making fire up again? Maybe a contest?

P/S: Let's not mention about real life here. We all know there's a factor called real life too. But obviously the mood is still very low regardless of it.

I was actually thinking of boss battle event contests etc. But...busy :(

I know that we have an event schedule set up though, but there has to be discussions first before things get approved.

I think it is the RPG Maker community in general. During the past year or two many top sites have lost activity. In some cases the sites never lost activity. They made it appear that they had activity by increasing the online users for two hours.

I completely understand. But low activity means low activity. One thing is for sure, you guys should try to speed up the 'approval process' a little bit. I'm totally not trying to sound like a boss here, but I just want the community itself as a whole to get some sort of motivation.

I was working on a new encounter system for a game I was making, but I think I lost a very important member of my team.

After that, I've sort of been on a downward spiral of chocolate abuse and watching inspirational videos with baby turtles in them. Also making commissions.

Activity always tends to drop at least a little during summer. Lots of people are on vacation or out enjoying the sun and whatnot. We are planning some pretty fun events, however, so stay tuned for more news on those. :3

I've been too busy working on my game. Most of my game updates are in the blog section. ;D

There's always the real life reason ;) as I've mentioned, let's face the truth: activity is dropping. And there ... clearly can't be more people going on vacations than people going to school or work. And it's summer. So, yeah. I shall await the fun events then :p

... Man what does that have to do with anything?

You asked why forum activity was down. I was stating that myself (and likely some others) haven't been posting a lot because we've been working on our games. Also, some people have been using the blog system to update info on their game projects instead of the Project Development forum. It has everything to do with this conversation.

We get posts like these every single summer, though. People notice a drop in activity and get worried. But it usually goes back to being more active by itself after summer's done. It's just a trend I've noticed over the years.

Not to say that we'll all be slacking or anything like that. We're still planning events and such. Just saying that things may be a bit quiet even with all the effort. :)

Actually, looking through the logs, we have about the same number of posts per day as we have had the entire time we were open. With the exception of the first week we opened the forums. Which... the week we opened the forums was crazy and anyone who thinks that would get kept up permanently is insane.

In fact, July 4th had more posts than 90% of the days the site has been open. (and most of the days it doesn't have more posts in were the initial March opening boom days).

I've got the same feeling EvilEagles does though it's not in regard to the project development section. The general discussion and game mechanics sections aren't as active it seems to me, but I attributed that to the fact that we have discussed a lot of topics already and now people are working on their games.

Plus it is summertime, families are taking vacations, gf/bfs, it's been 100 degrees all week, and a large part of the northern USA was without power for a day or more for over 100 miles seriously.

and NaGaDeMo just finished so I guess some ppl need to get back to thier lives a little after 30 straight days of making games...like eating again.

Plus with all those parties over at your house, who has time to make games now.
