Hi,right now I'm studying programming in a grade and we are learning Java language, and I would like to know if it's a similar language to Java. I would like to know this because I want to learn Javascript, and I want to know if it's too difficult or you just need to spend hours on it, because maybe in the future I'll adquire RPG Maker MV, and I'm really interested in programming and I like it, and programming languages use to share some rules to programm, and I would like to know how similar are Java and Javascript.

PD:Sorry if I have grammatical fails.

Thanks for your help!

Okay, yeah, I know that website, it's the one which is saving my life during this grade hahaha.

Thanks for answering my question!

@EternalShadow Yeah, because I know the basics of programming, but I'm sure that Javascript will have a lot of different things.

Thanks!

The part that will help is if you learn the programming skill - singular, because programming has nothing to do with the programming language used.

The language itself doesn't matter, the advantage is the same as if you learn programming by Java, by C, by Pascal or whatever.

Other than that, Java has as much to do with javascript as ham has to do with hamster - nothing at all...

There are basics and patterns shared by all (or most) programming languages, that will make it easier for you to get into it, but the two don't have much in common.

If you understand general programming logic, then knwoing any language will help you to learn another.

The syntax change, but the general logic behind programming is almost always the same.

When i moved from ruby to js, i had no clue of what was about js. I still very new to js, but just applying the logic i learned from ruby allows me to do MV plugins just fine.

Easy? Hmm... that's an interesting question.

Java both helps and it does not help.

I came from a strong Java background and a strong Ruby (RGSSx specific) background when I started to learn JavaScript. There are plenty of parts in JavaScript that looks and feels a bit like Java yet acts semantically different. Like, it's trying to luring you into a trap, before yelling GOTCHA! (well, if most the errors weren't silent that is)

JavaScript is much more akin to Ruby. I was a bit surprised about how similar they semantically are.

All that said, through your course and venture into Java programming you can definitely still learn useful concepts, algorithms and other fundamentals. Will it be easy? Hmm... probably not easier, but it's like to be easier. If you start learning JavaScript too soon you may end up mixing concepts of the different languages together which can slow you down for a while.

*hugs*

CodeAcademy will help you crawl understanding JavaScript, but if you want to learn how to make plugins for RPG Maker, I suggest you watch this guy's videos:

I don't think so.

Any programming experience will help when you learn new one. But the most thing in common between Java and JavaScript is they both have a Java in the name.
