So much great looking stuff guys! Wish I had the energy to comment on it all, but I don't.

Progress has been pretty much non-existent the last several days. I hurt my hip to the point that I could not even sit in my computer chair. Today is my first day to do so for more than a few minutes.

I did make a bit of progress since my last update before I got hurt, made a variety of mushroom tiles.

I'm needing to return to my stuck-on-the-couch mode, so the plan is to take my written notes and make some final decisions to implement in the game. That way I can get something done. And with that, I'm taking my medicated self back to the couch! P

I do love seeing everyone's progress though.

My first goal is to post here more often. It's very inspiring to see what people are up to, discuss, share things etc. So, I'm going to start by not looking so creepy and getting an avatar... later.

I also really want to finish the demo for my short game. It was never meant for it to be so long, but now I'm invested in it and that's just how it goes. I am shooting to have the demo done before the end of the month.

@mlogan: Oh man, how frustrating! Times like those are the reason I own a laptop. I hope you get better soon.

Feeling a little better today. I worked on sprites. Put in some shadows, did a lot of tweaking and I was brave and made a new behavior pose. I still want to make a few more behavioral poses but for the basics I think the bases are done. Again. I was done before but then decided I needed more directions. I need to not do that anymore, or this pack will never get done. I still need to arrange them all properly on a sheet and test it out but I'm pretty happy with what I did today.

@mlogan

I hope that you're making progress, and that it's not too painful.

@wynautastronaut

I agree, having somewhere to post is very helpful for motivation.

@Sharm

I'm so looking forward to these.

As for me - I've finished my weird dungeon, both outside and the inner part you reach after the door I posted about before.  Boss battle sorted, cut scene after it done.  Got one more cut scene for when the party report back, and then I can start thinking about the next location where there will be a major plot development.

I don't know how much I'll be able to do in the next few days. RL has some major things which will take time, energy and focus.  However, at the very least I'll be able to sketch on paper the layout, and some more detailed dialogue ideas.  I have sections of the dialogue already well worked out in my head - it's stringing them together coherently and without waffle that is still to be done.

Less than a week left before the date I planned to release the next version of Orange Season. In this time, I:

* Created a forge system, to allow the player to upgrade tools.

* Created a kitchen system, with just a couple recipes to cook for now.

* Made the animals walk around the farm on sunny days.

* Created an animated title screen

* Changed all the shopkeepers to talk to you if you talk to them from behind the counter, instead of opening the shop window.

* Made a fast travel option to go home from anywhere.

* Created a food menu option, showing food separated from other items.

* Added a lot more details on the town map.

* Fixed several bugs.

* Made a bridge that you can walk over and under.

* Created 200 new dialogues.

* Added 30 new NPCs.

This seems like a lot, but there's still so much work left.

1.6 Update: Feels like this is the day I got everything and nothing done. On that day I managed to:

-Change two of the character's classes, to better fit the story and personality of the characters.

-Zapped the alchemist class from the game, as it was proving too weak compared to the others. Now, anyone can make potions, thanks to a crafting script I found (balancing and implementation WIP)

-Wrote two maps for the game, Tir Koraz (A Dwarfen Frontier town carved into the side of a mountain), and the nearby caves for that town. You can currently enter four of the shops and buy things, and there is one plot scene. Rest pending, as I need to draw another map for that.

-Added in the new class to replace the Alchemist class. Won't say more as it is unique to Chapter 4 in the game.

-Added useable items that cause damage to enemies.

-Added elemental resistance potions.

-Added a new skill that allows you to increase the damage the enemy takes on future attacks. It's the reverse of the Damage shield skill.

-Added a skill to grant sleep and charm resistance. Will come in handy later in the game when more enemies try to put you to sleep or charm you.

-Updated the project thread.

Now I need to play through the game from start to finish, add in the new items in the appropriate places (maybe even some new treasure chests and such to give you them), and redo some dialogues to better match the characters, and do some rebalancing to match the changes in items. Also need to update the project thread screenshots, probably will do that when I do the playthrough.

@ksjp17: Sounds like the game is moving along! ETA?

@Hudell: I need to check out that demo when it comes out, sounds interesting.

That's a lot of work there.  Obviously 14 hours on a data base is good for your general productivity!

Months and months.  There are still several hours of game play to make yet, and then the long haul of polishing, checking, balancing etc. etc. etc.  I'm not putting a definite time on it, but summer would be nice. (And a fairly elastic concept, so it gives a lot of leeway for slippage).

@ksjp17: Sometimes. Though in this case its because I'm on winter break til the 21st, so it's giving me a lot of time for game making. Though soon I'm going to overshoot my ideas and need to step away for a day or two to let things settle in my head.

Summer? That's still faster than mine. I stand by ETA 2017 just because it is a first project and I know I'm going to hit obstacles I didn't plan on.

I had some scripts done and mostly planning. I also have 15 maps so far for this game before I had to go back to work. ;w;

I've added all the NPCs in my previously mapped indoors. :)

Now, I just need to map indoors in another area and playtest, but that's for next week.

Worked on sprites today. Sprites always take more time and effort than I think they should.

2015 :

i'm too busy, got a real life job. hahah, but I wanna finish some PSX RPGs, I just finished Xenogears a few days ago.

The games I'm going to play : Grandia, The Legend of Dragoon, Final Fantasy VIII.

The project's Progress will be slow. I'm sure in the end of 2015, the game should be 30% complete.

No musical projects this year.

Got more scripting done. The ships are now randomly generated and uniquely named, and my battle range is about half way there, just need to figure a way of getting it to work with a radar overlay.

Still on track for my January goals.

Well, work sort of has come to a standstill. I was going to get some busy work done at my mother's house even if I didn't have my desktop and all its software handy. But I'm yet again having an allergic reaction and my arms want to be balloon animals. I'm going to take a breather, I think.

Oh, allergies are a terrible thing, you should definitely take a break. Sounds like a contact allergy, most likely cause would be that you're allergic to the detergent your mother uses. Take a cool bath and feel better soon!

I've had a lot of allergic reactions the past couple weeks and we've narrowed it down to citrus fruit. Even though I've eating it my whole life I'm suddenly getting terrible rashes and swelling when I come in contact with it. I thought it was just oranges and grapefruit but I squeezed a lemon and it blew up almost immediately.

@Sharm - Yes, I would love to have a functioning laptop again. I've not planned on it for a good while due to budget constraints, but hubby actually suggested that maybe we could all on his own. So who knows, maybe it will happen sooner rather than later.

@Meg - Glad you were able to get some things done today after all!

@All - I love seeing so many new faces in here! Keep posting!

I'm finally feeling a bit better today - been able to sit and stand for longer periods of time. I've had some doctors appointments and such the last couple of days, so I've tried to take it easy when I'm home. I'm hoping maybe tomorrow I can get on here and work for a bit, even if it's a short time.

So there's my non-progress update. :p

1.7 and 1.8 Update - I wrote this line in the progress thread. Ok, in all seriousness I took a couple days off, my shoulder was acting up. Plan to return to the game tomorrow or Saturday, though I'll probably just ease in and work on it a couple hours with a couple dialogue line re-writes tomorrow.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such?
