SYNOPSIS
To many--it was viewed as an incredibly lowly position, but Marvin was content with his job as a mechanic. His quarters were located below the castle, where all the pipes and machinery would hum and clank. He had more nuts and bolts in his pocket than money, and he put in extra hours of work whilst everyone else lazed about. There was not an article of clothing he owned that wasn't permanently stained with grease. He was also a gunslinger, but that's only because nobody saw his work important enough to hire guards to keep watch over the lower levels, so he had to learn to protect himself.
This was who Marvin was--a hardworking, loyal, honest, no nonsense mechanic. But fate would have other plans, 'cause that's just how it rolls...
The Queen, Her Majesty Gale, had a task which only one could fulfill. Sending for her most trustworthy Scholar, Leo'Dan, she orders him to retrieve two candidates--a man who has saved her a hundred times from obliteration, and.... Marvin. And guess who she chooses? Mr. Assassin, of course! .... to stay with her at the castle because she needs protection. Yup. That's right--she chose the mechanic, of all people, to carry out this task.
Upon Her Majesty's orders, Marvin, whom shall be accompanied by Leo'Dan, is immediately tasked with delivering a certain scroll to The Redheaded King of The Other Kingdom. Oh, but of course it wasn't going to be that simple, for he also must seek out Layla (better known as "The Legendary Heroine") to aid in this journey. The problem is, this so-called "Heroine" is an obnoxious glory seeker, never missing an opportunity to show off her skills and flexing her strength. Finding her would not be difficult at all, it'd be trying to keep her from going on a million different detours--such as saving a mysterious fairy from a chicken, afterword tagging along (probably the only positive to come from the heroine's uncontrollable antics).
With the possible threat of being followed (and not just by spies), will Marvin and his crew be able to complete their mission? Oh, and.... they don't even know what's written in that scroll, by the way.

- DEV NOTES -
"Once upon a time, an overly ambitious dev came across Indie Game Maker Contest 2017.... with only one week left to enter. She entered this contest with a comedic style fantasy in the same world as her previous game, enlisting some of her most trustworthy voice actors. However, the results were a trainwreck. Due to the crunch, some of her voice overs were unavailable and had to decline, and those who did provide voicework only a handful of lines were sprinkled across the game. This unfinished piece became an embarrassment. Then, in 2019, the overly ambitious dev decided to FINALLY make this little adventure into the game it was meant to be played, with FULLY VOICED CUTSCENES as intended--due to this feature being its strongpoint. All voices were put into the game, as well as brand new ones, and even added a few new things like more interactables and an important after credits cutscene. Now, the overly ambitious dev smiles upon this game and looks toward it, not with shame, but fondness."
Okay so.... basically yeah, that's the story to Version 2 haha. Originally this game was a source of stress for me, like some kind of reminder of being a "failure". Yet I still loved this game and wanted people to experience it how it was meant to be played. Honestly, I could've finished it earlier, but life gets in the way sometimes. Still, I am so proud of my voice actors for all their hard work and bringing my characters such life and personality! I am happy to present to you this silly little game the way it was meant to be played. Seriously, my voice team brought so much life into this project that could only be possible with their love and enthusiam as their respective roles. And if you land yourself on the after credits scene (be sure to talk to Ni'Ana--an elf with red hair early in the game to get this after the True Ending), the vagueness of the final scene will be answered in our next RPG Game, Rebellion of Gilfer's Bay, which shall be made on VX Ace.

Did you catch all the subtle nods to Crystal Captor: Memory Chronicle Finale?
( This is a list of every reference and their explanation--MAJOR AND MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD )
- Ni'Ana is half Crimson-Eyed. The couple she speaks of is the Cloak Guy and Amina, whom originally came from another world before Amina's soul was torn apart and scattered across other planets.
- Leo'Dan reads a book about cabbages written by "Greg the Soldier". Whilst only known as Mr. Cabbage in the other game, "Greg" is actually Mr. Cabbage's real name, and he originally was a soldier before coming to Gilfer's Bay to grow cabbages amongst pirates.
- At one of the inn, you are able to listen to two conversations. One is with a sea captain talking to a blonde woman about his son he will become a great captain himself. He mentions he married a "broom-sweepin' lass as fine as a Calla Lily" and they live a life of piracy. This refers to Bobby and Callie, Moses' parents, from the other game, therefore insinuating that this captain is Bobby's father.
- The second conversation from the same inn you see two soldiers talking about a woman named Sharon, whom has abandoned her duty as a Gate Guardian and became a pirate. Whilst unnamed, Sharon is a character you could talk to at the pub whom is always mistaken as part of the squardron because she "lacks bandanna". She plays a greater role in the upcoming sequel.
- The Continent Across the Sea refers to the world that Crystal Captor takes place. It is also called by name for the first time "Arseland".
- Ni'Ana and Leo'Dan one year after this game's events set out to travel to Arseland to try and seek out the couple claiming to be the last of the Crimson Eyed--they will be playing a minor role in the sequel.
- Queen Gale sends out a new scroll to Master Potato, and says that The Dominator is going to receive a very exotic prison. This plays a significant role in the upcoming sequel, as players will learn later whom this prisoner is. The Dominator is the pirate-hating dictator from the previous game that wants to obliterate the pirates. Master Potato will be introduced in the second act of the upcoming sequel.

This game contains silly to mildly crude humor and some light swearing
