RPG Maker Forums

So, I've been gaming for twenty-two years, and as such, I've held my fair share of controllers. But rather than simply play games, I began to study them. Not necessarily from a psychological point of view, but from the perspective of someone eager to understand what more could be done with them. We're all familiar with games with world-threatening conflicts and where combat is in heavy use. But how many games do you own that are devoid of either of these? Probably a few, but I'd wager that the majority of your library features at least one of two of these features.

Before I elaborate on my idea, I want to assure you that I'm not at all trying to act like a revolutionary. I'm quite sure a wealth of people before me have created a game within RPG Maker that didn't rely on combat. I don't necessarily want to be added to the pile, rather, I simply want to get my idea out there. So, what exactly is my idea? Well, the game will be reminiscent to that of...life. And yeah, I realize that people do in fact fight in reality, but it isn't something we can all relate to. If we're in the military or something, we can relate to that, but not all of us can relate to murder.

So, with my game I'd like to allow a great deal of freedom. Not just freedom in terms of map roaming, but also in decision making. It will also be modern, as we can relate to that better than a medieval setting. Think of it as The Sims but with an actual story. Want to write music in the game? Be a game developer? Those options are available to you. Now, of course the actual writing and designing parts will be limited, but there will be a lot of options within each system.

Those are just two professions/jobs/titles that will be made available. The game itself is still very much in the planning stages, so if anyone is interested, don't look to play or test the game for a very long time. The primary approach I'm taking is a realistic one. Now, you may be wondering why I posted a wall of text in my introductory post pertaining to my game ideas. Well, that's rather simple: I didn't want to make a billion different threads relating to things I'm looking for.

I'm very much in need of modern tilesets 'n that. Any links you can provide will be very much appreciated. Also, while I don't really intend on taking on people for the project, I wouldn't mind ideas here and there. Anything I use will be credited. But yeah, hi and thanks~

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
