I kinda want to make Parallax Mapping tutorials, but I don't think anyone uses Parallax much? I've been in a lot of places and I've barely seen anyone making maps from Parallax. What do you think?

there are some parallax tutorials, but more with default or other titesets
to set extra's.

I forgot 1 that also explained how to use it with the plugins to make it work.
but I dont see any or much the way you made it or how it looks like in the
game which is not seen in the video.

I also dont see the grid to see where you can walk or how you want to set it.
but it looks good otherwise.

I disabled grid since I wanted to showcase the art and the map first so I didn't exactly focus on showing that technical stuff. I was planning on doing that first, but the parallax does work in game. With the layers working perfectly and the stuff there accurately as seen as in the picture.

Personally, I use Orange Overlay (RMMV) so that's how I parallax my maps. Thank you for the feedback!

I love this kind of videos, looks really cool! Are these completely selfmade graphics?

Nope! I commissioned most of it and bought some and some I made myself! I wanted at first to just recruit a group, but I don't really have anything notable to bring to the table, so I just took it upon myself and commissioned some people online through Fiverr and DeviantArt. Even my profile picture too xD

Yrythaela thank you for adding a chill music to this video, it is actually relaxing and pleasant to watch <3

Also omg thanks for pointing me Orange Overlay's way.

If you follow this up and make an actual game map, would you show us a screenshot? It would be nice to compare it visually since we have seen it in the photoeditor sw

Sure! I can definitely do that. Within the next several hours, I'll be posting that video on doing that with several other maps and the recommended plugins.

My shrink has me trying to limit 30 mins a day for each of my personal projects so I can have a healthier life. But lately the rpg making in particular has been hard to pull away from and I keep getting lost in it.
Everyone has a test project named like this...right?

Pardon my japanese but this is my honest reaction to yesterday's "tangent":

I know these are all simple things for experienced users, but working on this Game Jam I have officially learned how to:
  • Use my own title screen image
  • Use scrolling text
  • Fade in a picture
  • Use any image for the Face in a dialog box
Probably silly for many people, but observable progress for me!
So i was looking at Lufia The Legend Returns Mapping Style in GBC. the Players view is a 9x9 square. MV has a more modern pixel art. As long as the environment is comprehensible, this mapping style is still good.
