So I'm working on a Phoenix Wright-like VN and I'm trying to get the item descriptions to display when the key item select is hovering over the Item like this...
http://imgur.com/L2Ni3M4

I need this script to work after a key item select event so that when a player selects "present evidence" during text they will be thrown into a item select screen. But instead of the item description being on the top I need it on the bottom of the screen. Also I am just using the base movement scripts so nothing fancy here just the arrow keys. Sorry if I left anything out I tried to be as specific as I could. Thanks for your help in advance everyone. :)

This is really close Bex but, it still doesn't show the descriptions when I call the Select Key Item Event. Maybe I'm doing something wrong (hopefully it's this) but I'll keep trying. Thanks for your help.

The Picture in the Link shows Description Text of Keyitems below the Keyitem Selection.

In your first Post it reads like you want that? Normaly the Keyitemlist doesnt ofer Description Text.

Edit: If you want the Keyitem List to apear on the below side of screen and not like standard above the screen,

than just make an empty and transparent show text command before the show keyitem list command.

If you than choose the show text to apear top half of screen, than the keyitemlist automaticly will be shown on the lower top of the screen.

Essentially I need get the Item description from the Key Item Select Event. After the event is called the player is forced into the key item select screen and the description would be on the bottom.

The game 魔女の家(majyo no ie) shown in that picture is RGSS2 (VX)

So i doubt you can use the script that game is using in RGSS3 (VX Ace)

But you will still need a script for the repositioning and help window nevertheless.

Try this script instead:

#==============================================================================# ■ Meow Face Key Window#------------------------------------------------------------------------------# Reposition Key Window and Add Help Window#==============================================================================# How to Use:# [1] Put this script below Material and above Main#==============================================================================class Window_KeyItem < Window_ItemList  def initialize(message_window)    @message_window = message_window    super(0, Graphics.height-fitting_height(3), Graphics.width, fitting_height(3))    self.openness = 0    deactivate    set_handler:)ok,     method:)on_ok))    set_handler:)cancel, method:)on_cancel))  end  def start    self.category = :key_item    @help_window = Window_Help.new    @message_window.close    refresh    select(0)    open    activate  end  def on_ok    result = item ? item.id : 0    $game_variables[$game_message.item_choice_variable_id] = result    @help_window.dispose    close  end  def on_cancel    $game_variables[$game_message.item_choice_variable_id] = 0    @help_window.dispose    close  endend

By default the key item window will reposition itself accordingly to the position of your message window (to avoid overlapping).

I've disable that and fix it to the bottom screen. And it will force close the message window if you call the key window right after message to avoid overlapping.

So if you need to show message before the key window selection, pair the message box with a (yes,no) choice box.

Thanks MeowFace!! You're a Godsend this is exactly what I was looking for. Can you change the end of the script though for future people looking for this? The second end is on the same line.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
