Hey, everyone :kaoluv:

I just finished my first game. It takes about ten minutes to finish: is a small escape-room game, in which you must find the keys and match with their locks.

Any feedback is very much appreciated, for I don't have any formal education whatsoever in this area. Also, I'd love to know if there are any noticeable typos or grammar errors, because english is not my first language.

Here's the link: https://mellanny.itch.io/keyscape
For those who'll try, I hope you enjoy it!

I compleeted the game, but there are some issues though.

1) the drawer can be opend from the back (make a direction faced up)
2) most choices arent selectedat first or only 1 (example for the book, you MUST
read it, you can't cancel out)
3) the pillow can be checked on the bed end, shouldn't be possible.

4) the wooden box to pull, push goes automatically on it's spot, than it move
when you jump on it, (should be fixed)

even the key up there should have a text message.

I can continue this list, but the game is on 1 side a bit weak, but it has definitly
potentional in it to improve the game, and the clue's found arent even clear on
first sight, and make it hard to understand, and while it have status window to it,
it should better fit at key items.

see if you can improve the story, hints, mistakes, bugs a bit more, make the
description of the item a bit more clear, but not to much, can be a bit cryptic
on how to use and when (if you know what I mean).

for your first game, it's promising, but try to improve it for a more enjoyable game.

Because I think, most people will be stuck, or done already something that is been
cleared, so it will be harder to escape the room.

for now, in overall (without sound)
I give a 5/10 for the game.

see if you can improve it in some ways, and I might replay it :)
(sorry if im to critism on the review), but I do that on most games if it needs.
you can only improve your skills :)

The only 1 thing I encountered that should be changed in my opinion is the bucket. If you fill the bucket up with water before you know what you're supposed to do and you don't remember how much water you put in there then you're screwed. An option to empty the bucket would easily fix that problem.

Thank you so much for your replies! :kaoluv: Since it's only a hobby, I had to set it aside for a while to do college stuff lol but now I've finally found some time to fix some things and reply this thread!

@ShadowDragon Thank you very much for the detailed feedback! I believe I've fixed most of those things you've mentioned, except for the second point, that I didn't really understand what you meant :(

@Roxsie thanks a lot! I really didn't pay attention to that. It's fixed now!

@mellanny 2nd issue is, when you select a book you have a text:
"do you want to read it?"

choices: "read the book", asind from that, it isn't selected the first choice,
when making choices, always use 2, read teh book, cancel/dont read.

always select 1st choice or the cancel choice by default or you need to do
constantly arrow down or up in order to select the choice to be visible.

ooh, got it! Actually, I think the "cancel" option didn't appear because of a bug I had when programming with YEP choice plugin. But I'll keep in mind to set default options. Maybe I'll change this later today :) Thank you so much for your time and kindness!

Hello, I played your game! It's really fun, and I'm impressed that this is your first RM game because it has features/mechanics that require intermediate knowledge to program (I am also a newbie)! I personally like the wine and beer puzzle! I learned a lot from your game too :)

Some bugs I found, hope you don't mind me pointing them out:
- When you cancel your choice while you check the pillow, the dialogue states that you are shaking the blankets.
- When you already have the key from the shelf, checking the shelf will still say "How can I reach the key?"
- When you open the door to the exit, the room resets, making the crate return to its original position, and the matchbox and doodling paper reappear.

Other than that, I wonder if there are secrets in this game?

The top drawer on the bottom right doesn't open. Did I miss something?

When you thought you'd be finished with the grid, and spend ~8-9 hours on an arrow. How is this more difficult to than player movement?

Still some bugs hiding in there, but it's nearly complete.

I'm having it strictly follow the path a user draws, because there will be booby trap and other similar mechanics where you want to avoid specific cells.
I feel like banging my head against a wall every time I want to find that post that shows all the plugin header codes. Then I think "next time I find it, I'm going to bookmark it". Then I think "wait a minute ... maybe I bookmarked it last time because it took me so long to find it". Check bookmarks, and there it is :)
... a few of my main characters standing around doing nothing lol. I mostly wanted to see them together on screen.
