Ok in Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep you have to complete three people's stories to unlock a final story. I was wondering if this can be done in ACE. I am sure this part is easy using some sort of eventing, but I also want to be able to call the three characters skills and stats that they had in their stories after they were removed. Is this also possible? If so please tell me I really wish to know. I also want to make it to where you can play any story as many times but the final story can only be unlocked once all three are completed.

I am sure the first part can be evented I can imprivise if the part where you can bring there stats.

Yes it's possible. The stats of the Actor are kept unless you check off the "Initialize" box. (If that box is checked, they'll be at level1).

Thanks for the advice now if I can only figure out how to make it to were you are required to beat all three stories then it starts the final story, while leaving it up to the player to choose whose story they want to play.

This is very simple and really shouldn't cause any problems at all.

You're familiar with switches and variables right?

Switches and variables are basic core functions of RPG Maker's event system. Having a full understanding of them will make everything significantly easier.

Read these tutorials, and follow along. Trust me bro. Once you master them—you'll be able to implement them in limitless ways, including what you want to do with your game.

Thanks so much I am still reading the tutorial but have a question lets say the player chooses new game and choose one of the three charcters. When they beat that story I activate a switch or varabile at the end of that story. Then return to the title screen then the player has to choose new game again to choose there character again. I set switches at the end of there three stories and when all three switches are turned on I make an event that says if x,x,x switches are on then It takes them to the map where the final story starts, or would I have to make it to where they continue off the same file for this to happen? The big question I guess is if you were to make a switch be turned on in a file then selected new game would that switch be turned off?

Switches and variables are saved the save file itself, they're not shared between them. Starting a New Game will not carry over any character statistics, switches, and variables from another file.

I suppose you can go about setting some kind of global variables via scripts with some kind of transfer feature for the final chapter, kind of like a modified New Game+ feature (I wouldn't know how to go about doing that).

Another way is you could add a way that allows you to freely jump between characters (an item or option or NPC). If you don't want to transfer inventory then you would need to store everything in variables and remove each one (which can be tedious), or look for a script that allows separate inventories between parties.

You don't have to revert to the new game screen at all—just revert to the character select screen within the same save file. That way your switches are preserved.

I have the same idea as well. It's like Dissidia's story mode, right? Or are you implementing somewhat like in Final Fantasy VI, where you must pick one of the three scenes and play it, then pick another one from the remaining two scenes and play it, then play the last scene, then all the characters of the three scenes will be merged into one scene?

@

Walter Jr. Thanks i think I got it now just got to test it out.

@

Nagasaki Thats about it but I am giving the player the choice to play the same story as many times as he wants its just that at the end of the three storys I have a switch turned on and a conditional branch that checks to see if the three are turn on also at the end of each story and then I remove the character of that story from play and thanks to what Raynard told me I can pretty much bring back the removed charcater with his last know stats before he was removed by not clicking initialize. Then once the branch reads that all three switches are on they are sent to the map where the final story starts. I believe this will work have to make it a little demo to make sure it does.

So it is similar to Wild Arms, except there one could not play the individual stories as often as one wnated...(those individuals were just preludes anyways)

You'll need a simple script that turns on a switch if the player plays through one game and completes it. Then you can do other things with this switch when the player starts a new game. I'm sure there's such a script out there, probably some sort of achievement unlocked/completed game script.

Tell me if I can do this in a better way.I am still learning about switches variables and conditional branches.

In Short, it's like you have a menu for story mode?

Pretty much and my events will have conditional branches to change to the characters story's. And like I said before I will just use switches at the end of there stories to connect them to the final story.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such?
