  • Includes nine playable characters.
  • Features a "back-view" battle system that includes sprite battlers.

  • Includes a detailed main plot as well as side plots and quests.
  • Will include an Alchemy system for synthesizing items, weapons, and armor.
  • Current Release: Kingdom of Secrets 0.2 (Demo) was released. Several flaws and bugs were fixed.

Update From The Developers

A new demo is on its way! There have been some big changes made, here are some things to look for.

- Completely revamped Aveline. 

- Completely revamped Esper system for Nuri.

- Edits to the story and maps.

- More complete skill sets.

- Primary and Secondary classes.

- Functional alchemy system.

- New Side-View animated battle system.

- New mobs.

- Expanded story and character development. 

- Side quests and new challenges.

There will be even more, but you'll just have to download the new demo and find out for yourself!

Projected Demo Release Date: Some time during September ~ October 2013

Story Synopsis

King Edgar, the King of Terra, has been dead for over a year. As the new Monarchy takes over, the winds of change began to sweep across the land of Terra. With the new King, Harold, in place, bonds of loyalty and understanding begin to deteriorate as wave of Tyranny swells on the horizon.

King Herald's domination seems unstoppable until the last living War Mage, Aveline, is discovered living in the Southern Desert. Having been raised within the palace walls by the late General of the King's army, her vast knowledge of the past poses as the ultimate threat to Herald. The King orders Aveline's arrest and the destruction of the town in which she resides which may end up being his greatest mistake yet.

The Kingdom of Secrets takes you on Aveline's adventure through the three kingdoms to stop King Herald's nefarious plan. What is King Herald ultimately after? Can Aveline find the strength within her to take on the army she was meant to lead? What other secrets lie within the Kingdom of Terra?

World Development

The world of Kingdom of Secrets contains three known kingdoms and one hidden kingdom. The Kingdoms are Terra, the overworld kingdom, Caelus, the sky kingdom, and Loreley, the underwater kingdom. There is little information known about the fourth kingdom. Terra, the largest kingdom, is home to most of the world's different kinds. From humans to centaurs to spirits, the Kingdom of Terra is vast and diverse in its populous. Second in size comes Loreley, the kingdom underwater, home of the mer-people and other aquatic inhabitants. Although more isolated then the other kingdoms, Loreley faces constant civil feuds. Finally, Caelus, the sky kingdom, is the smallest of the three kingdoms. Although the people of Caelus are genuinely calm and peaceful, they are not afraid to summon their Guardian Espers to defend their kingdom.

Aveline
Age: 22
Class: War Mage / Blood Mage
Female
Bio: Aveline was an orphaned child who was placed in the guardianship of the late General of the King's Army. Through the years, the General took her as his apprentice and taught her the ways of the War Mage. After his death, Aveline became appointed as General but quickly lost the title when she refused to swear her allegiance to the new King Harold. She ultimately fled the Kingdom and took residence in a small desert town in the south of Terra.


Kailyn
Age: 16
Class: Gun Mage / Thief
Female
Bio: Kailyn is a fiery Gun Mage from the Port town of Beryl. Her parents recently went missing and her drive to find them often causes her to break into King Herald's palace. With her parents gone, Kailyn relies on her thievery to survive.


Nuri
Age: 19
Class: Evoker / Time Mage
Female
Bio: Nuri is the Princess of Caelus and the daughter of Cyrus and Catherine. She has been raised with a love for her people that pushes her to venture away from her Kingdom.


Nirav
Age: 25
Class: Dragoon / Fallen Soldier
Male
Bio: Childhood friends with Nuri. After leaving the Sky Kingdom for several years, Nirav returned orphaned and alone but was taken in by the King and Queen. He was offered the job as Nuri's guard and quickly accepted. He's been by her side every since.

There is an error with your audio file- "160-B - Lilith's Rage (1)" should be named "160-B - Lilith's Rage". Haven't gotten into the game yet, I just figured I'd note that since the game can't be started without renaming that file.

Edit:

Noticed a few other bugs right off the bat, if you go all the way north in the opening town you can walk over the pile of rubble, not triggering the event that lets you leave. Then in the dungeon, when the one girl unlocks the door, if you are pressing a directional button as she's walking out, it freezes the game.

There is an error with your audio file- "160-B - Lilith's Rage (1)" should be named "160-B - Lilith's Rage". Haven't gotten into the game yet, I just figured I'd note that since the game can't be started without renaming that file.

I found it online, but I do make stuff with perler beads. I have a blue chocobo with a moogle rider on my fridge right now, ha.

PS I also found a passability error in the sewer. It's right above the guy you follow with the healing spring to the left (you can walk right out into all the black space).

Edit: When trying to leave the sewers I get the error "unable to find file: audio/bgm/310- world map", the file isn't in the demo

Haha okay we'll fix those bugs as well. We down-sized the project file by getting rid of un-used music and apparently accidentally got rid of some used music as well. Thanks for helping us find all of these errors.

Edit: Bugs should all be fixed now, and the new download link added. :) Let us know if you find anything else!

This interests me, but make sure your maps aren't too big with a bunch of empty space; that really detracts from the overall quality.

Were you referring to any maps in particular? We simply haven't finished our over-world map completely yet, that's a work in progress, but as for the smaller maps that are accessible in the demo I can't think of any that fit that description. Thanks. :)

I kind of like how his maps are not so claustrophobic. Then again it is just a personal reference to rather make terrain look varied than make pathways to feel like mazes instead of how they would be built in the real world with some room for more than one person to pass by at time.

thank you! :) Yeah, we were sort of going for more of a 'real world' feel when it came to how places would be laid out. This IS a fantasy game, but for example in the bar/inn, we figured though there would be a lot of people and things going on in the bar area, in the inn "lobby" it wouldn't be packed. There would be room to move around and for guests to get up the stairs without having to weave through a crowded bar. :p

Hello again! So it's been almost a year since we last tackled this project. After having our apartment burn down, adjusting to the new place and getting everything going again, we are finally back at work with this project. We have been for a while now, taking things slow but steady. As reflected in the first post of this topic, a new demo is on its way with a lot of exciting changes. We look forward to sharing this with you when it's ready!

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
